King Conservation District April public meetings calendar. Tuesday April 1 the Legislative Subcommittee meets at 1pm. Tuesday April 8 the Advisory Committee meets at 10am. Tuesday April 8 the Board of Supervisors meets at 5pm. Tuesday April 22 the Grant Subcommittee meets at 5pm.

Frank Chopp, former WA House speaker and tireless advocate, dies at 71 An advocate for health care and low-income housing, Frank Chopp was the longest-serving House speaker in the state's history and a rare legislative force.

Stunned and saddened to hear of the passing of longtime Washington Speaker of the House Frank Chopp, who I knew to be a kind man and a tireless public servant. May his memory be a blessing.

KCD Supervisor Elections and Appointments : King Conservation District King Conservation District is led by an all-volunteer, five-member board of supervisors. Board members contribute local perspectives on important natural resource management topics.

Voters in south and southeast King County can vote for their new Board of Supervisors representative now through February 11. To check your voting eligibility and mark your ballot, go to kingcd.org/vote.

The Cedar River still functions as an important water supply for Seattle, as well as a salmon migration route. In 2023 King Conservation District assisted the city of Renton in stabilizing parts of the riverbank, protecting water cleanliness and salmon habitat.

The 2025 Board of Supervisors election opens Tuesday, January 21. With our new voting districts, ONLY South and Southeast King County residents will vote this year. Other areas of King County will vote in either 2026 (East King County) or 2027 (Seattle).
