Just finished day 3 of my new job & I am loving it!

It was a bittersweet decision to take a step away from academia, and it definitely wasn’t a straightforward or easy decision.

But the people, the team, the stability, the structure, the interesting work… 10/10 🫶🏻

I’ve had the best, most relaxing few days off after handing in my thesis.

And tomorrow I’m SO elated to be joining the @metoffice.bsky.social as a foundation scientist!!!

So excited to keep learning & evolving, and really looking forward to this next stage of my career.

I hand in my PhD thesis tomorrow!

Today I created my table of contents and my lists of figures & tables, checked my headings & all my captions.

About an hour ago I formatted & compressed the PDF. So… that’s it!

She’s good to go!

Minor formatting setback. Every single reference had an incorrect DOI link… 7 hours later & I’ve updated them all 😮‍💨

Today I compiled my entire thesis!

It’s a complete, whole entity.

And I’m so proud of it!

I bought a car today, and also read through 3 of 7 chapters. It’s been a good day!

Tomorrow I’ll be reading through the other 4 chapters and attempting to put them all together into one document without crashing Word… pray for me!

Absolutely obsessed with this pesky little (approx. 50 m) barchan dune that’s migrated over a little road in Peru & people have been driving around it making little tyre marks that look so similar to the rover tracks in HiRISE 🥹🥹

14 hours later and I’ve just finished going through comments on these chapters 😮‍💨 time for bed…
