Last night into the wee hours of this morning I wrote. I’ve been working on this pilot when I can between work and being a dad. To see it coming together is well worth the lure exhaustion I’m feeling right now. A step closer to querying.

Today is a day that I’m hit by major blues. Stress of life. Stagnation with writing. But mostly down by external things I can’t control that seem to have a tight grip on me. I wish I knew how to shake this feeling in a better way

Celebrity or not - everyone who has lost a home in these #fires is a human being.

That trauma is being felt around the state and world.

I’m sorry for your loss. Some are more fortunate to rebuild than others. But the loss is real.

Words cannot describe what you’re going through.

Part of why I wanted to write was because of the feelings I had from the films that I watched. The way they made me feel like. To see the community #LOST built only reinforced what your work or, selfishly, what my work, can do. A big motivator for sure.

It shows how a piece of art can create a long lasting community and how something you write, direct, act, score et al, can have a profound effect on said community. (2)

#GettingLost was a really fun and nostalgic trip. More than that, it emphasizes why art and creation was something I drawn to in the first place. (1)

Next time you make a film, don't ask what awards you're going to win. Instead, ask yourself if you've done enough to make another. Consistency of output is king!

In that instant I realized that my son, who already fast tracked to 2.5 yrs old, will be an older kid sooner rather than later. And all at once I wasn’t okay with that. Time moves too fast. Ugh. I need coffee. (End).

My initial reaction was I have to get myself ready. But then another voice chimed in “you won’t get these moments all the time. There will be a time he will stop asking. You need to savor the moments as they arise”. (2)

I got up an ugly time of day this morning. Knowing I had to push off to go to the 9-5. My kid starts to fuss and I go into his room. He get him to settle and he groggily says “I want to hold you”. Meaning he wants me to crawl into bed next to him and hold him till he falls asleep. (1)

My kid is the best thing that has happened to me.

Reflection: in re reading an earlier draft I found that I had a decent world built, but my main characters were passive and, frankly, annoying. They were whiny and quippy. Devoid of anything good to connect to.

It was eye opening to say the least. #screenwriting #screenwriter #writing #quereyquest

Reflection: repetition only serves to pad the run time. 1.5 of these three pages has two characters have a nearly dizzying, round about conversation that doesn’t really drive the plot forward.

Part of the fun of re-reading old drafts is identifying them as first drafts. This exchange comes after an over-the-top, borderline goofy car chase and comes off as inauthentic. Please enjoy. #screenwriting #screenwriter #edit #reading #scripts #firstdraft

When re reading an older draft I’m seeing bits that I think worked well and am questioning why I went in a different direction.

Step 1 of securing a meeting in one years time:

Re reading the various drafts of the script. I’ve had this idea for the last 15 years. I’ll be culling through old notes and re reading and tightening.
