My theory as to why they pushed this sketch so close to the end of the show is to give Marcello a lead sketch; and throw Chloe a bone to see if she can get a viral moment.

The show seems to be thankfully wising up three eps in that these two are popular with fans AND work well as a comedic couple

A part of me suspects that they had him play Mamdani toned down bc there was some mild Twitter backlash for Sarah’s piece in the first ep. This seems more skeptical of his promises but falls into the same problem they had with Obamas admin. I doubt Emil would have played it the way Ramy would 🧵

For more context. The last time this happened was when Sean Spicer was on DWTS and that’s only bc he did a scummy move of gaming the fan votes system with his “base” this is all organic encouragement

The crazy thing is he still keeps getting through despite being the weakest one. Fan votes are propping him up that much

Also it’s the Nikki Glaser ep. I would hope that his fans don’t fill up all the seats just to see him perform. Bc either way. Whether it’s his fans or not in the seats; I don’t see his performance being received the way he’s hoping for

Why Is Sombr Beefing With a 25-Year-Old Concertgoer? The 20-year-old singer is defending himself after his show was called “brain rot on stage.”

I have a bad feeling about the Sombr performance now. It’s one thing to do the VMAs; but these shticks in front of a small SNL audience is not doable and only will come off as cringe live. So all he has is his music which is on the positive side will be passable www.thecut.com/article/somb...

This is a very important lesson; one I hope the show learns. I'm sensing she may be thrown in the way Wiig was - when the show had a stronger female cast than it does now - and that won't be good for her or the show. She deserves strong and focused writing, not being used as a Band-Aid.

JAJ probably has a good Gavin Newsom in his back pocket, as well as RFK Jr bc the character voice is very much in the same vein as those two people

Either way, even if these are reused jokes, it’s feeling like these are better details that pay tribute to SNLs 50 yrs than last season even did

1) I appreciate Tommy on his WU piece didn’t go for the easy “Jost Roast” newbies do their 1st time on
2) the last beat of the Fart sketch with the explosion reminded me of how the MacGrubers used to end
3) I couldn’t help thinking about Hartman screaming FIRE BAD as Frankensteins monster 1/🧵

I defend the premise of Domingo on the basis that it is the 1st SNL sketch my 14 yr old sister learned about via her friends & shared with me, without even knowing what SNL was. The fact I got to share the show with her for the 1st time meant a lot. But this CO is the worse iteration of it by far

All that sketch confirmed for me was associating Sabrina Carpenters whole vibe and her on stage performance personality with Betty Boop
