Book banning is so dangerous, not only because the kids unable to access these books are missing out on important conversations their parents will never think to have with them, because they're too busy pouring their energy into the outrage machine. Allow your kids to be individual thinkers, ffs.

Two people on a stage under a sign reading "Judith Butler. Sarah Bracke"
A signed copy of Who's Afraid of Gender by Judith Butler
Last night in Antwerp:
#JudithButler delivered one hell of a talk. Ideas on how we can build community without enforcing conformity - made me think of modern activist spaces and the fear of being an imperfect activist. But we need imperfect more than we need apathetic.

UK recognises Palestine as an independent state
Keir Starmerβs announcement comes seven decades after end of British mandate in Palestine and creation of state of Israel
This shouldn't have come as a bargaining tool but now it is here - let's turn words into action. Stop arming Israel.
(And let's not using softened words at that. A genocide is a genocide, not a man-made humanitarian crisis).

Heatwaves in Schools (Spain) - Climate, health equity, and the built environment
π‘ This summer, we saw record-breaking temperatures and extreme weather. Children are extremely vulnerable to #HeatWaves, so school buildings need to be healthy and climate-resilient.
π« We visited one school in Spain to learn how they are tackling the heat.

This truly sucks. Access to citizenship should not be a privilege. And ditching the social integration requirement and upping the cost will do worse for Belgium as a community. People will not feel a part of it.

Abigail also said "If Mrs Mansley can become Mr Mansley then the idea of an essential female nature starts to look a little shakey".
Its about assigning people to boxes & therefore roles that suit the system, rather than, oh idk, allowing people to live.

Why is it always βimpossibleβ to build homes, lower bills and stop the climate crisis but inevitable that our generation is worse off than our parents and that 8 men own as much wealth as half the world?
These are political choices. And our politicians need to make better ones.

I fear many, if not most, women have had a bad experience of a man handling even the gentlest of rejection badly. Nobody is entitled to another person. The increasing radicalisation of misogynists needs to be stopped.
