Summer thatch, spring growth.

First haiku since the election. The context is a walk and a paddle with my grandson (Ayden) in the flooded Laguna de Santa Rosa. You could say I'm hopeful for new beginnings.

Fragile green stems arc;
Through last year’s dry brown thatch;
Forgotten heat, promised rain.

Wonderful! It really is a big jump, but such a treat to see each friend reconnect. I don’t begrudge folks who choose to stay, but for me leaving was the right thing to do.
