If the entirety or at least a vast majority of global archives' and libraries' holdings (in so many languages) were digitized and read by machines, I'd say AI might be onto something, and that in terms of fairly low quality stuff churned out en-masse. Long way to go to even that.

So, no.

This morning, the police is focused on arresting students and teenagers, snatching them from the streets even if they have not obviously done anything.

What the regime hopes to achieve is unclear, except to show "strength" to its own dwindling base.

Otvorena fašistička diktatura noćas u Beogradu / An open fascist dictatorship tonight in Belgrade
YouTube video by Jordan Creek Otvorena fašistička diktatura noćas u Beogradu / An open fascist dictatorship tonight in Belgrade

The government and the police in Belgrade have completely lost the plot last night.

Beatings, mass arrests, violating the university property (down in the link)... they are turning up the dial of repression but the protests and civic anger are growing by the day.

Protests in Belgrade are now practically everywhere; people are casually blocking traffic and quickly move around to frustrate the cops.

Atmosphere is both kind of festive and tense. The police is now widely seen as just pro-regime thugs, as they started beating and arresting student protestors.

So, the Serbian police has apparently arrested Colombian professor Miguel Ángel Beltrán, who is in Novi Sad at an academic congress.

No peeps on this in the national media, still unclear on the background of such a move.

Tens of thousands of protestors, led by students, are protesting in Belgrade, Serbia, demanding the resignation of Pres. Vucic and calling for early elections.

In reality there is no "momentum", no immediate perspective of getting the EU accession back on track.
Just empty gestures and pretense all around.

The pro-EU public in Serbia will see this for what it is - yet another missed opportunity to set things straight, and Brussels' support to Vucic.

The so-called Washington agreement of Sept 2020 (Serbia-USA-Kosovo) was/is pretty much irrelevant in a grand scheme of SRB-KS relations, it did not stop any war (the war was in 1999), and the relations actually got worse (not because of that agreement but still).

Hot air, selectivity, and lame PR.

I keep seeing reports of non-AI users being told that an AI detector has dubbed their work AI generated, and it makes me insane because:
1) AI detection tools *are themselves AI* and thus entirely bullshit; and
2) if an AI was trained on your works, of COURSE it’ll flag you as sounding “like” AI!

Kushner in Belgrade, presents Vucic with project for “magnificent” hotel Former US President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner presented Serbian President Vucic with a project for a hotel in Belgrade, Vucic said on Instagram.

Vučić was in Miami last week, looking for an unofficial meeting with Trump at Mar-a-lago or at least a photo-op, but has cancelled the visit abruptly, supposesly for illness.

Trump crew is looking for a real estate deal in Belgrade, probably not much more.

There is virtually nobody in Serbian academia that honestly thinks that this (illegal, nonsensical) change was NOT about penalising universities.

In short, the gvmt is illegally witholding ~90% of monthly salary of uni professors, for second month in a row.

Pure vengeance as unis are the core of student protests that have rocked the ruling parties prolonged capture of the state apparatus.

A piece by @sciencebusiness.net shows some of the effects of the illegal changes in the work/salary structure of Serbian unis by the Gvmt.
The background is the penalisation of the part of academia for the public support given to student protests.

Democracy for sale? Why the EU must break with Serbia's Vučić If the EU stands for democracy rather than just for lithium, it must take a new position in Serbia soon. In the wake of student-led mass protests, support for president Vučić is no longer support for stability if it ever was, writes political analyst Luke Bacigalupo from Belgrade.

RE Serbia: formal focal point is narrow - 4 student requests, and actually wider in essence, as a general anti-corruption sentiment that can get people engaged.
There are no elections on the horizon so the protests are still very dynamic and fairly wide open, to suck in any and all anti gvmt mood.

Students from Serbia have just announced that they are going to cycle to Strasbourg. This is their route.

Students from #Serbia (yes, those protesting for months now) just announced that they are going to cycle from Novi Sad to—Strasbourg.

Why? To personally deliver news to European institutions of certain important developments in Serbia, since they have been sort of ignoring them.

Here's the route 👇

He slipped in a lithium issue as well (that the EU will list Jadar mining project as one of CRMA strategic projects) which serves a PR purpose of further alienating the bulk of the protestants away from the EU, as the Jadar project is extremely unpopular.

So, the Serbian gvmt is witholding salaries to uni professors and staff due to ongoing student protests.

As there are effectivelly no classes, and even though the unis are not in strike, gvmt is disbursing only about 10% of regular pay - "for research", as a form of punishment against higher ed.

Probably over 300k people at the peak, easily the biggest protest here ever.

Gvmt tried to incite violence at the end, through illegal LRAD use and controlled thugs, so it could spin it through their media ecosystem to the captive audience.

purely criminal. Sonic cannons are a weapon and using them on a crowd can easily trigger a lethal stampede
