This is not inevitable. It reflects policy choices about housing supply, social security and tenant protections. Different choices can protect rights and prevent homelessness.

During the review, the UN Committee questioned the UK on poverty, inequality, social security, housing, food insecurity and more β linking economic policy directly to peopleβs rights and dignity.

Their evidence made clear how gaps in housing, food, social security, health and work are affecting rights in real life.

It was a key moment to bring evidence from communities across the UK directly to the international stage. π§΅
