This year has just been an unending marathon of shotgunning obligations and events one after another, which is cool in a "being alive in the world and having experiences" way, but also, when do I get time to be a schizoid weirdo in my art hole? Am I truly alive if I am not drawing?

Man I gotta make some fuckin.... good art. I feel like an empty husk wearing my own skin when I haven't made something ambitious and Good lately. I hate looking at my old stuff and thinking "oh I wish I could make that now!"

Yes I know my setup sucks, it's my first colony... still learning the ropes. Did figure out a trick to make use of raiders... Hyden + the resident cannibal + the stoner hippies stay behind while the more sensitive folks go on a caravan day trip, then come home to long pork in the freezer. Yum yum.

In other news, Danny gave me a brand new brain disease. I avoided Rimworld for a long time because I KNEW it would be a black hole that I enter at 4 PM thinking "I'll play for a couple hours" and then next thing I know it's 1 AM.

Avoiding mods for the most part but couldn't resist a little treat.

For all that the internet has become a tool of evil, it's still a tool for connection. I love that I can be a tiny part of your life, and you of mine, even if we are separated by distance, borders, language, laws, oceans. I love that we can share art & ideas & pet videos & kindness with each other.

When I ship international orders, sometimes I search the city/province names to ensure I'm formatting the address fields right.

And... man. What a beautiful world we live in. So much beautiful architecture, nature, culture in those photos. It's so touching to know my art is going around the world.❤️

All done. Hyden even got his tinted shades so now he looks like a sex pervert (as he should). Really wanted round ones but the only seller I could find was in Korea and wouldn't ship to the US anymore, so aviator shades it is...

Gotta take some good photos of them later. They turned out real cute.

They're almost there! Then we can put them on a shelf facing us and look at them. :)

Oh yeah the prep process is pretty much identical to those things.

Definitely a great option for symmetrical eyes and other details that'd be tough to hand-paint! As I just noted in my other post tho they're translucent, so I'd test a few on junk first to get a feel for how the colors work.

Peepers went on easy! Even the goatee wasn't too tough.

A caveat about waterslide decals is that they're translucent, so you need to bring your own solid white. I lacked the finesse to paint a white base under Ambroys' eyebrows etc so I'll need to carefully paint over top instead.

They're "waterslide decal" material, which is the go-to material for decals on Gundams and model ships and such. I'd never heard of it before, but it opens some interesting possibilities for crafts with detail more precise than you can feasibly paint by hand! I'll report back when I've tried it out.

Yesss they are coming along... I can't wait for our mid 2000s angle and devel OCs to fully manifest as the period-appropriate anime chibis they were always meant to be :)

I designed them but paid someone on Etsy a couple bucks to print them. My printer's way too crummy for that kind of crisp, high DPI goodness! Apparently it can be done just fine with a (nice) home printer, though.

Thank you! I'm really pleased with how they're turning out. They'd BETTER turn out well given how much extra pain and expense went into sourcing everything with the tariffs. OTL I picked the worst time to start this project.

Detail work. Hard to see in this bad lighting, but Ambroys' golden steaks look really good.

Need some minor touch ups on the hands/sleeves, nail polish on Hyden's horns (once dry), & then the face decals. I'm a little scared of that part... I do NOT want to mess up & have to re-airbrush the faces.💀

4 rounds of airbrush and 1 round of Mr. Super Clear... next step: detail painting & a few manual touch-ups.

The airbrush really does get that professional, smooth finish even in my incompetent hands. I love doing shading/gradients, but hate waiting for stuff to dry & cleaning out the paint bowl.

Wow those accessory pegs went right in there with a drill. Would've been even easier with metric drill bits... I think. They're snug enough to stay put but can still rotate.

Waiting on a pointy-snout faceplate for Ambroys... then I will dig the air compressor out of the garage & learn to airbrush.

Thank you... yep, after a point it's like "if it's bad news please just let me know already". I'm grateful each day I'm still employed regardless of course, but never knowing what I'll be doing in 3 months & how hard I should be stressing & what I should be planning takes an exhausting toll. u_u
