Can some of the puzzles be tedious? You betcha. Are some of them also really cool? Also yes.
Low-key (but also high-key) if you walk away from this game thinking it is boring to play, you don't know ball when it comes to horror games, I said what I said

Out of the *many* decisions around TGA that don't make sense, the one I think can and should be fixed sooner than later is content creator of the year. Like why is this even here, fr

Not that I have a horse in TGA race, but it is interesting to me that a game that isn't technically out until tomorrow (Deadpool VR) got a nom, a game that released its last episode five days ago (Dispatch) got a nom, and ARC Raiders did not

For me at least, Bloodborne is such a perfect, fine-tuned distillation of everything FromSoft is good at. ER increases the scale, which makes it more exciting to play, but of all the Souls games, I'd say BB is the most 'important' or 'essential' to play
14.11.2025 15:10 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
A recent addition to my list of 'essential' games: 1000xResist. Not as recent: Celeste, Portal, Titanfall 2, MGS2, Mario Odyssey, SotC, GTA IV, RE2, Super Metroid, Bloodborne, LoZ: BotW, and those are just what's coming to me off the top of my head

It is hilarious to me that we've seen two reviews within the last week, both with negative scores, one that was actually thoughtless in its criticism and framing and another that was genuinely thoughtful, well-explained, and plenty of game devs, pundits, etc., seemingly can't tell the difference

If this happens my bet is that the 'cross-buy' price (cause it'll definitely be a different price than the standard) will be the cost of whatever ultimate edition there is but not with the ult dlc upgrades

Say what you want about people telling you a work of art is 'important' to experience, but this meets that mark.

BTW two things can be true:
- Game review scores skew overly positive and are homogenised by assigning the same people the same franchises/genres over and over.
- Games media still struggles with a nasty case of the edgy critic syndrome that results in dull criticism applied without empathy.

That it does, and also, yes, I unfortunately did click on the review to read the whole thing.
04.11.2025 16:33 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
To outright dismiss nearly 30 years of franchise history is bold to say the least, and is an extremely narrow starting point from which to review anything. It reads like thoughtless criticism
04.11.2025 16:30 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
There's value in someone entrenched in a franchise review those games. There's also value in someone completely new getting their first taste in a review. But this opener sounds like the reviewer doesn't even try to understand what could be good about these games, and continues from there.
