Roman Forum: Temple of the Vestal Virgins.

I've been playing with generative AI using it to provide undirected expansions of a central core image -- either my own or something I found. In this case it's an image of a antique carriage that AI decided is out of control in a beautifully chaotic urban landscape.

A photo of my partner Michelle about the time I first met her. We've been together now for a little more than forty years. Still finishing each others sentences and laughing at the same goofy stuff. Still my favorite travel partner and chamber music date.

The Mt. Saint Helens eruption of July 22, 1980 -- almost exactly two months after the Big One on May 18, 1080. Seen from our house in Portland. Depending on the wind, these smaller blast would litter our streets with a dusting of ash. It looked like a sack of concrete was scattered after a rain.

In 1992 I worked in Sydney for nearly 6 month. Every morning I began my day with a run through the Paramatta Park Tudor Gate and into Paramatta Park. The summer morning always had a wonderful lemon smell in the air.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon River Gorge near Bristol, UK. It opened in 1864. There is a small car park for visitors near the bridge. It's not uncommon to find abandoned autos in the park. At times the bridge has been a suicide magnet. I visited in 1993.

I read a few of her novels back in the 1960s. I bought this book of her stories in Chicago back then and immediately misplaced it. Found it after all these years and started reading them this week. Her unique talent shines through. Tough. Challenging. Unsettling. Real.

In 1982 I visited the under construction Seabrook Nuclear Power Station in New Hampshire. The plant opened in 1990 and is still open today.

In the mid-Nineties my friend Lee and I used some expiring ASA miles to visit Kotzebue, Alaska. We drank tequila in the local cemetery and later our hosts told us it was risky because polar bears often roamed there. Live and Learn. Lucky.
