A man & a dog. Come for pictures of Wilbur 🐢, stay for #Pittsburgh Sports, #mufc musings and general randomness. Ex-weatherdude. Completely preposterous, but absolutely human. Native of Manchester, now in the Democratic People's Republic of Bromsgrove.

Over the last two years, there have been assaults, violent attacks on mosques, and anti-Muslim rhetoric from prominent figures on the far right.
But there's also been renewed scrutiny of issues within Muslim communities, and how well integration has happened.
There are questions about how well successive governments have engaged with Muslims to deal with issues in their own communities, and Islamophobia from outside.

So the BBC did an article about a Muslim man who got hideous racist abuse for appearing in a β€œWelcome” advert at Heathrow airport…

…and they included this passage. What the actual fuck is wrong with them?!

Yeah, the kid is going to put any hanging breaking ball he sees into a nearby car parking area. We can count on it now.

United went and fixed their keeper problem. Chelsea didn't.

True, but the decline of our high street has accelerated since the roadworks began two years ago because no one can get to it anymore.

You ever heard of McDonalds closing a branch anywhere? They did it here in Bromsgrove a few years ago.

As a Bromsgrove resident, the town is the country in microcosm - flags everywhere (the man who started the movement is a resident), a dead high street thanks to horrific overrunning roadworks that no one wanted, yet a growing independent hospitality sector and people looking out for one another.

Absolutely. We're only going to find out about Carrick when they lose and if the injuries start to bite, but I'm all for riding the wave until either of those things happen. We've seen recent United teams lose and not got out of second gear in games like this, not pretty, but they did the job today.

Could Martin Tyler be any less excited by United getting a penalty than this?

01.03.2026 16:19 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

That wasn't easy, the game turned on the sending off and penalty and they'll have to play an awful lot better at Newcastle to get something out of that, but third place after the absolute state of things in the autumn is amazing #MUFC

Heaven and Yoro at the back for the last 5 minutes plus change is certainly an interesting choice......

Yesss πŸ™‚ It's about time he scored a header like that. Finally got a cross with enough pace so he could get some real purchase on. Now go and finish the job here #MUFC

01.03.2026 15:26 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

We're lucky, but I'm not sure why we're lucky. Everything seemed very wrong about that, but the rules are rules. Not sure we'd have broken them down, but now we have an extra man it's time to up the pace.

And they can still lose this, I'm still scarred by early Sunday ETH games we used to blow.

01.03.2026 15:22 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The crowd need to wake up too. Not that they've had much to get excited about, United are half paced, like one of those Sunday early games you'd used to get during the ten Hag era.

The Mail calls out racism on its back page, while promoting unsubstantiated, outright racism on its front page.

This Polymarket thing where gamblers can bet on precisely when war will begin seems so incredibly depraved that I’m shocked that no British spread betting company has implemented a similar operation over here.

This might surprise people who aren't from the UK, but over here there's a publication that, in order to write for it, you have to be a sex offender.

I don't think he can do this, he could plea guilty to the charges for a reduced sentence as the CPS will charge him, but that guilty plea has to be agreed with by the judge and he will still be subjected to standard sentencing guidelines, but plea bargaining doesn't really exist in our legal system.

Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:

The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same...

Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time."
Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed.
That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.
