Still going to lots of operas. Always manage to find some when visiting grandchildren in Australia and Norway. Still angry about Brexit.

Balint to Noem: "You're the secretary of DHS -- for now. And you think you're immune from accountability. But I promise you this: one day he is not gonna be president anymore. And when that day comes, we will still be here. And in hearings like this, we are going to continue to prove your guilt."

NOEM: I would disagree with the judge

CROCKETT: I'm sure you would, but can you tell me whether or not you have a law degree?

NOEM: A what?

CROCKETT: A law degree

NOEM: No I do no-

CROCKETT: Okay

Alex Pretti and RenΓ©e Good were murdered by federal agents. Soon after, Secretary Noem labeled them 'domestic terrorists.’

I gave her the chance to recant and apologize for the pain she's caused their families with these outrageous lies. She refused.

Here's the @balint.house.gov exchange I wrote up earlier. Thanks to @atrupar.com for clipping it.

Raskin: Based on what you know today, were Renee Good and Alex Pretti domestic terrorists?

Noem: What happened was an absolute tragedy.

Raskin: Were they domestic terrorists?

Noem: My condolences to their families

Raskin: You lied about them.

We were last in Putney and at an NOS recital 2 weeks ago. Back there Sunday week for opera in Palermo before lots of Handel and Wagner.

Trump Has No Plan for the Iranian People The mere act of bombing Iran will not by itself create a stable regime.

The American bombardment of Iran has been launched without explanation, without Congress, without public support. Above all it has been launched without a coherent strategy for the Iranian people, and without a plan to let them build a legitimate Iranian state.

My friend and I both feel that we have lost a lot of opera fans on Bluesky - and I left X because of Musk. Very envious of Les Troyens tomorrow on radio in US. We have Boris G which doesn’t thrill me.

Glad to read comments from you. A friend and I were both agreeing that we hadn’t heard from you. Went to Benvenuto Cellini earlier this month in Brussels. Semiramide in Palermo in March.

Pleased to see FullFact confirming what I said in my film is correct. As for Reform leader Nigel Farage - he is of course speaking boll****.

Perhaps UK news shows could now start calling him out on this.

Sadly, I have no plans to visit the US as long as Trump is in power. My last visit was to the Santa Fe opera in 2024. I love NYC, the Met and many areas of the US. Fortunately there is plenty of opera in Europe and I have tickets for the concert performance of Macbeth ( with Davidsen) in Copenhagen.

No international visitor is safe in Trump’s America. No one is safe.

You may be detained at any time, for any reason, or no reason at all. You may be held indefinitely, without charges.

Visitors may be denied entry and lose all $ spent for lodging, travel, etc.

FIFA, IOC, please note.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I still feel upset, even distraught, that we are no longer in the EU. In hospital recently I met a woman who was born in Germany who said that every thing changed - and not for the better - after the Brexit vote.

So the fall-out from the wretched Mandelson scandal has led Scotland’s Labour leader to call for Keir Starmer to resign.
Meanwhile, last year…

There is always a tweet.

Yes, it’s a wonderful production. As Ruth says, this summer at Glyndebourne will be its first revival.
