In Massachusetts it’s more cost effective than natural gas @. <40 deg F. Its not typically used for central heat if natural gas available. Heating Efficiency jumps for October/November. Heat pump picks up again March, April and May.

Natural gas midwinter only.

Economic inertia slows everything.

I took action and went green; heat pump, e-HWH, solar, EV.

Cut fossil fuels 85%. Electric bill -$0. Only Use natural gas mid-winter.
Savings- $5,000/yr.
Payback - 4.5 years
ROI -18%.
