The brief lore of the “Veinguard” universe is that Earth became uninhabitable due to a climate catastrophe, & humanity trying to survive out in space- with so far 2 known species being parasites (literal & technicality)

The only one who would- on some level- realize the toxicity of their relationship would be Soh, but he quite literally would not give a fuck. So both him and Arum are driving with fucking blinders on to their dynamic.

Only level of care Soh has is Arum dying or not, that's it.

Thea/Aido are the only ones that at least understand their relationship to a level is not healthy (considering events in the novella I have planned), but there is no going back with them on it.

Yes, and it would be Arum and their entire existence.

Probably just like a real life fungus, they just came out of nowhere and infected everything, but then proceeded to projectile me into a whole different story project.

In “The Martyr’s Rose”- in a way that doesn’t spoil too much, love for Amalthea might as well be called obsession, cuz Arum has co-dependency trademarked.

I am I.V Burgundy/Amalthea, and I am working on a duology called “The Veinguard Arum” and “The Martyr’s Rose”

Both are Sci-Fi horrors, with the second novella having Dark Romance themes.

I also have plans to expand the universe, but I am currently limiting myself to the first two novellas for now

We’re rocking a solid 3 over here.
Two of those points coming from the sequel…for two separate reasons

I do a lot of sitting with and mentally replaying the scenes in my head while I work on World Building

And looking back I definitely didn’t plan for 2 characters becoming absolutely mentally unstable, and another going from a mafia man to an everyday worker getting the shittiest deal in life.

Stripping everything down, they just want to go back home and have a community again.
But how they’ve chose to go about it is what really makes Arum a monster.

Veinguards themselves aren’t any better, as ‘co-existing’ means you become one of them, even by force.

To be fair- Arum needs a reciprocating partner

It won’t fix them- but fuck it’ll at least channel HALF of those issues somewhere less dangerous

The main aliens in my universe is- as its named after- the Veinguards
They are closely related to the Cordyceps fungus, are highly sociable and rather friendly…unfortunately they don’t take no for an answer on becoming one of their Sprouts well

everyone has limits with what they can handle in fiction in any medium, there is just a difference between "this made me uncomfortable because it explores the author's harmful prejudices" and "this explores a dark or taboo subject I can't handle"

one deserves critique, the other does not

I think people misunderstand that IT IS OKAY if a book makes you UNCOMFORTABLE, sometimes that is the author's intent, but what YOU DO with those feelings as the reader is YOUR responsibility, not an author's, and which is why using that discomfort as a crux to mortality police makes you a dick

Oh I want to for sure, tho I feel like I need to actually beat Origins and 2 first before so I can try to be accurate with the Mage/Chantry bullshit as much as possible
