It did a similar thing for me, actually. I first played Halo 2 at a point in my life where I was really starting to question the faith I'd been raised in my entire life (southern baptist) and the Arbiter's character arc felt really close to home for me

that game is just so good. it's so fucking good man and the Arbiter is the best part of it by far

thinking back to games I grew up loving and I think I've come to the conclusion that I've never connected with a character's story as much as I have the Arbiter from Halo 2

After the failure of the Zumwalt, the cancellation of the Constellations, and the fact that every other new project seems to be advancing at the pace of a fucking snail, I would not be at all shocked if we see more vital projects canned and abandoned. This is how navies atrophy and die.

The Constellation class was a very realistic and practical design that had tremendous promise. It was not a cash cow of nothingness and false hopes like the Zumwalt before it, and filled an actually important niche within the Navy's surface force composition. Cancelling it is just brazenly stupid.

I genuinely think that Navy shipbuilding is in the worst state it's been since the early 30s and it's because the people running it are fucking morons
