Yes, we need to make the mountain more climbable. But we also need to ensure our guides can lead safely and sustainably. Because if the experts can't stay strong, no one reaches the summit.
Many mental health startups promise to "revolutionize access" while pushing their therapists to the limit - no breaks between clients, unsustainable caseloads, burnout disguised as dedication.
The irony? When guides are exhausted, the whole expedition suffers.
Yet that's exactly what we're doing to our mental health professionals.
We talk about making the summit more accessible. That's crucial. But in our rush to get more people to the top, we're exhausting the very experts who know the path.
But here's what's troubling: while more people than ever are attempting this climb, we're wearing out our guides.
Think about it. Would you ask mountain guides to lead back-to-back expeditions without rest? To take on double the climbers with half the resources?
