Haven’t posted lately — been deep in the pitch trenches.
One takeaway worth sharing:
Don’t ask for a chance. Present your work like it belongs.
Editors don’t need hopefuls. They need clarity, commitment, and vision.
Your pitch should show all three. Every time.

Recently reached out to an editor I admire.
We’ve never worked together, but the exchange has been organic and encouraging.
If you’re trying to break in, don’t ask to “prove” yourself.
Show your intent. Share your experience.
Let your pitch do the talking.

MUNDO DIABLO was my return to Spanish comics. Published by @heavymetalofficial.bsky.social VIRUS, it spun out of Paco Haghenbeck’s El Diablo Me Obligó and the Netflix Diablero universe.
He wanted to write more diablero stories with me. COVID didn’t let that happen.
I still miss him.

WRITING TIP: OPEN WITH THE ECHO
Start with the regret. The wound. The tremor.
Let the reader chase the cause — it’s more powerful when they arrive there on their own.

Not every pitch needs art. But not every writer gets to make that case.
Grateful to editors like @heavymetalofficial.bsky.social and @humanoids.com who’ve trusted me to lead with story.
Literary-first pitching works — when the writing’s solid.

WORLD-BUILDING TIP
Depth grows from constraint, not expansion.
Define your world’s limits—maps, magic, culture—and let that drive every detail.
It’s how SINSTRESS and ORB SPINNER found density and clarity.

Great art is too often failed by poor writing, so happy to hear you're making sure it all starts with great writing!

Been deep in pitch mode this week.
Grateful for editors who trust story-first proposals—no art, just the bones. Rare, but powerful. Big shoutout to @heavymetalofficial.bsky.social and @humanoids.com for making that space.
If you’re an editor open to that, I’ve got stories to share.

Anthology comics are all about compression.
The best short stories don’t build up to a twist—they start with one.
Then the fun begins.
I’ve written a dozen+ of these across Heavy Metal, Megadeth, and others—and each one teaches me something new.

It's been a long time since it was just put away. It's an IP that could be published with the right publisher.

What a wonderful thing it is that my name is alongside Jodorowsky, Caza, Mœbius, and Druillet. What a marvel to be a young vision among old dreams.

DON’T JUST WRITE ACTION. WRITE INTENT.
In comics, clarity of why a panel exists is as important as what happens in it.
“Character walks in, looks left, grabs knife.”
Okay—but what drives this moment? What must the reader feel?
The best scripts don’t just describe scenes. They guide emotion.

The script isn’t just dialogue. It’s rhythm. It’s silence. It’s timing.
The way a page breathes is as important as what’s being said.
You don’t write panels — you write pacing.
Example from ROME ETERNAL, published by @magmacomix.bsky.social .
Art by Diego Yapur. Colors by Oscar Carreño.

House of Leaves by Danielewski, shifted my idea of structure. Comics can carry disorientation and emotional collapse.
You’ll feel it in
“The Lights in the Night Sky, the Abyss, and the Space Castaway” — out now in Metal Hurlant #15 (FR) and #1 (US).

Métal Hurlant #1 (US) is landing with backers.
Both include my story:
“The Lights in the Night Sky, the Abyss, and the Space Castaway”
Art by Leno Carvalho.
Grateful to be in both editions.
Let the echoes speak.

Hey, I’m Homero — comics writer and creative director.
You might’ve seen my work in Heavy Metal, Métal Hurlant, Magma Comix, or Sumerian.
Currently working on SINSTRESS, ORB SPINNER, and trying to make room for more strange stories.
If you're into comic books and awesomeness, let’s connect!
