The department's curriculum — spanning theory, skills, context, research and professional practices — encourages students to gain mastery in the principles and practice of furniture design and consider evolving materials and technologies through a lens of responsible design.

RISD's Furniture Design Department enables students to explore the creative process behind crafting furniture and objects, to delve into materials research, and to address pressing questions of contemporary design.

Held during the week-long @nycxdesign festival each year as part of ICFF, WANTED partners with RISD to provide a platform for international student work through a Schools Showcase and Schools Workshop encouraging collaborative design.

#BlueMedium25: Over the years, we’ve supported the RISD Furniture Design department on the floor of WANTED at The International Contemporary Furniture Fair, North America’s foremost gathering of original, sustainability-focused design.

Two decades later, Performa continues to encourage visual artists to expand into the medium, and spotlight performance as an essential contemporary art practice. Performa 25 is on now, and runs through November 23rd.

The inaugural Performa 05 featured more than 20 commissions and collaborations, including projects by Jesper Just, Marina Abramović, Christian Jankowski, and Francesco Vezzoli.

Founded in 2004 and inaugurated in 2005 by curator and art historian RoseLee Goldberg, Performa created a new platform for performance art, expanding possibilities for artists by providing essential curatorial and production support.

We are proud to have helped introduce this platform, which brings together artists, choreographers, musicians, and filmmakers to create ambitious new works across New York City.

#BlueMedium2025: On the occasion of Performa 2025 this month, Blue Medium looks back on its launch as the only worldwide biennial to exclusively present performance art.

The workshop will be held on November 18th, 2025 via Zoom at 12 noon EST. Eligibility is limited to organizations with an annual operating budget of less than US$2million.

Led by Michelle DiLello (Partner, Architecture + Design) and Andy Cushman (Account Director, Visual Arts), this workshop will address an organization's PR needs, explore effective strategies, address issues management, and offer valuable tips for growing your media relationships and audiences.

In the spirit of the season of giving, Blue Medium is pleased to offer a free workshop for nonprofit visual arts, design, and architecture organizations who are interested in improving their public relations practices.

Our sister company, Fremont Blue, was crucial to the success of those events and continues to produce Artwalk today. We are proud that our relationship continues to tonight’s sold-out edition, with an auction featuring a plate designed by artist Tomokazu Matsuyama.

Our history with Artwalk includes publicizing its 10th-anniversary in 2004, which featured Ed Ruscha and Peter Jennings, and continued with star-studded galas honoring artists like Louise Fishman (2017) and Katherine Bernhardt (2019), both hosted by Max Mara.

#BlueMedium25: On the occasion of Artwalk NY 2025 tonight, Blue Medium reflects on our work with this vital annual benefit. Artwalk unites artists and philanthropists to celebrate the “artist-as-activist,” and fight homelessness by funding the Coalition for the Homeless’s life-saving programs.

A simultaneous pop-up exhibition at Thompson Central Park New York hotel featured Klingspor’s smaller bronze works, highlighting the artist’s process and exploring the idea of a city combining with its inhabitants to form a new species.

Blending modern lore with ancient myths that praised alligators for their resilience, Klingspore’s masterpiece stood as a testament to the adaptability of New Yorkers and alligators alike in a prime location for public engagement with the work.

“NYC Legend” is an ode to the century-old urban myth of sewer alligators dwelling below New York City, deposited by New Yorkers when these pets — transplanted from the southeastern U.S. — grew to an unmanageable size.

Blue Medium was honored to collaborate with NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and Union Square Partnership to support Klingspor’s iconic public art installation, which was funded by Swedish Mollbrinks Gallery and cast in Switzerland by Perseo Art Foundry.

#BlueMedium2025: From October 2023 to June 2024, a life-sized alligator came to life on a manhole cover in Union Square Park thanks to Alexander Klingspor, the Swedish artist behind the bronze sculpture “NYC Legend.”
