The people who fight against people ‘just living their lives their own way’ are (usually for political/controlling reasons) performatively acting out because of a base insecurity they’ve not identified in therapy yet.
They deserve better, could do better and as Buzz would say to them:

Imagine always being told that if you don’t put your left shoe on first that your loved one will experience visceral pain & that had been beaten into you for 40 years.
Then you leave home and see people putting their right shoe on first - it’s freak you out. Similar thing.

That challenging thought is a psychological threat to their perceived universe and that instills panic, so their reaction is to decry/demonise/destroy. In short, their ‘baseline for happy’ is the only one they can consider is valid. The more they stake that claim the worse a challenge to it feels.

-‘core rule’ threatens their basic framework. If someone else can be doing something they’ve not thought of, expressing themselves, their desire, their sexuality, their love, their kinks so freely and enjoyably and yet “they in throng normal/happy/adjusted life” cannot then maybe they are wrong.

Internalised/institutionalised shame and unrealised envy.
The idea that ‘someone else is getting to enjoy something that I don’t know people find enjoying’ and people mistake ‘surprise’ for ‘revulsion’. Because they think they ‘know it all’ & ‘are normal’ experiencing something that challenges that-

The escapism. The unity that there are others into this. The joy that whilst I can’t currently partake others are enjoying it. The inspiration/fuel to my horny mind. The creativity it can inject.
Sometime the settings, some the the kitchens in these places are GORGEOUS!!

This morning was the calling to insurance to get rescued and the car taken in for repair.
Tyres needed replacing anyway, but may need new wheel, and perhaps internal shennans.

What an eventful 24 hours.

Went for a haircut.
Went to tend to my friends cats an hit a pothole on a back road - tyre goes boom.
Cunning patch job (gunk+handkerchief) got enough pressure in to get me the 0.5 miles to their place.
Comforted by much cat love.

He’s sheltered those thrown out by their own parents over many decades and literally and figuratively has been the father figure that many of us deserved all along.

I have a similar experience. I’m very lucky to have someone in my life who I originally met through kink who I refer to as “The dad of my gay family”. I’ve met and made dozens of friends though him, supported him through surgeries and life and he the same for me.
