Libraries Connected President Ed Jewell smiles into the camera. He is wearing a blue-grey suit with a white shirt and glasses.
'Our libraries cannot claim to be universal and comprehensive if they are not safe spaces to encounter dangerous ideas'.
Have you read the reflections of @edjewell.bsky.social on one year as our President?

Morrison has taken stories from 300-odd years of Black British history and retold them in the English folk tradition. It's not a genre that normally appeals to me, but these are fascinating (and sometimes enraging) stories brilliantly told β feels like a vital project and well-worth a listen

BBC Proms - 2025 - BBC Proms: Angeline Morrison - The Sorrow Songs (Folk Songs of Black British Experience) - BBC Sounds
Live at the BBC Proms from the Glasshouse, Gateshead, British folksinger Angeline Morrison
Each year as well as going to a few live Proms I try to listen to all the concerts on Sounds.
I normally hear something that I wouldn't normally listen to, and I've just been blown away by Angeline Morrison and The Sorrow Songs Band:

Despite being a fan of the first two Bridgit Jones novels when they came out, I'm only just getting round to the third. In it, Daniel Cleaver is described as 'former chairman of Pergamon Press'. That feels oddly specific - but surely there isn't an implication that he is like the actual chairman...

Sobering article in @theobserveruk.bsky.social where @richove.bsky.social⬠forensically outlines the attacks on US libraries. The UK often imports US' 'culture wars' battlegrounds and Richard puts us on our guard to resist any such moves here.
