White is Earth clouds, pink is aurora, blue is the Sun in a specific wavelength, brown is Jupiter clouds, black is the Hubble deep field, red is the top of sprites, orange is a Mars crater, yellow is the surface of Io, green is a lake with algae, blue is Neptune, and purple is the Crab Nebula in a specific wavelength.

I made this Pride flag using only NASA images and our team thought it would be cool to share on social (I work on the NASA heliophysics communications team), but it's getting all sorts of hate on the bird app and Fbook. Thought y'all might be more appreciative of it here. ☺️🏳️‍🌈💖

Melody October May Speaking as a former Air Traffic Controller, there is no such thing as "diversity" hiring in our field - the FAA hires only those who can handle the traffic, the knowledge of how to control a learned airspace area (be it from a control center over a vast airway area or at a local control for an airfield), the logical mind that can make instant decisions based on traffic, weather or other things that affect flight, and the ability to direct pilots to such directions. It doesn't matter whether the controller is male or female, striaght or lgbtq, black or white or red or brown or anything else - only that you are capable of the job. Looking at the one blurry video that's been released of the collision, it appears the helicopter came from behind the viewable point of the airplane's cockpit. But that is strictly guess on my part. It's up to the NTSB to make the exact calculations on that. One note of interest to those of you who don't already know - within 15 seconds of the collision, the ATC'er working the local control (who is in charge of giving the take-off and landing clearances for all aircraft at that field), had already handed over his/her position, and was being escorted to the hospital to have immediate blood tests, breathing test, every other invasive test you can imagine might be taken to ensure the controller was not affected by alcohol or drugs at the time of the incident. For any person, be it you, me, or the dumpster-in-chief, to make such accusations of fault, and to try to generalize it in a prejudicial way, is beyond despicable. Wait for not only the NTSB report, but for the revised report after re-examinations are done. I feel grief not only for the families and friends of those who died in this horrible tragedy, but for the professionals involved with the aftermath.
