Bl3iz-Du (OKAMI SEQUEL!!!!)

I did my first serious background art for our community's very first Draw Date!

The theme our community chose was Okami, and I couldn't think of a more fitting area than Taka Pass

I did a temporary fix to elevate that shelf so the tip of Moegami’s wings now have 0.5mm to breathe… Will switch the shelves around tomorrow so a flat one can go above my figures. And the books are now on the floor under the shelf until we get the living room refurbished in 372737272 years :’)

My hyper focusing brain refusing to go to sleep again. Spent an hour rearranging my figures only to put them back to how they were before lol. It did allow me to realise that the books on the shelf above curved it too much so the shelf was resting on Moegami’s wings… Luckily it hasn’t damaged it

Actually it’s a good idea to have it so tall, maybe have Solar Flare even slightly bigger. That way this figure can go in the back row of the shelf in the middle surrouded by the other tall ones and have the smaller one in front, like Shiranui is looking over everyone or something like that😶‍🌫️

I was concerned that with the way I wanted to angle Solar Flare it would make the figure too tall. Turns out it’s only 20cm tall? Smaller than almost half of the other Gods lol

Guess the 3D for Shiranui is more or less finished then. Not my best but it’ll have to as I’m running out of time for it💀

Yeah Waka's flute theme is so pretty, I love it too!❤️

I hope they'll improve on the 3D model of Solar Flare if it's in the Sequel. And make those blasted tendrils more esthetic in 3D and show us they modelise/sculpt them so I can use it for future reference because I swear there's no way these things can look nice on a physical statue/figure

3 hot takes on Okami:
- Waka is over rated
- Solar Flare is the least interesting weapon design and boringly flat (in game, in the official illustration it looks awsome and epic)
- Shiranui's tendrils suck (also in game, on the artwork they're beautiful)

- Shiranui: tendrils, Solar Flare, rock, the absolute most difficult of all of them lol. You guys have no idea how much I'm suffering with this one, I hope it'll look at least good enough once printed lol

- Nuregami: translucent sphere with ornaments wrapped around it
- Kazegami: second easiest
- Moegami: wings lol no comment curse you feathers
- Kasugami: wool
- Kabegami: head looking backward, twisted neck is hell take my word for it!
- Gekigami: rock cylinder thing
- Itegami: stylised yak hair

- Yomigami: plated chest all long curvy noodle and non flat scroll
- Tachigami: low poly sword modelisation
- Hanagami: obscure Japanese musical instrument and bipedal anatomy
- Bakugami: Japanese cherry bomb made of wrapped bits of textiles
- Yumigami: was the easiest

Crazy how this very long project of making figures of all the Okami Gods came with so many challenges for each of them. Which is great, it's what I wanted, a motivation to grow out of my comfort zone and learn so much, all the time, with each character <3

- Made 3D Shiranui's tendrils
- Completed last garage kit I own

Today:
- 2 hrs hike with picnic done
- No Lavi work, too exhausted now 😶‍🌫️
- More work on Shiranui's tendrils + Solar Flare

I finished the last licenced garage kit I own, Tachigami by Neco-Damashi!

I don’t know if the decals were too old or what, but they failed miserably (never had problems before). It left yellow marks on the base that I’ll need to repaint one day…Painted the red manually.

Love this figure otherwise❤️

Dust… I don’t leave in the desert and still have too much of it 😩 You dust the shelves and 2 hours later it’s back to square one lol

Of course I still have it, I love it so much 💕 still sits between my Alatreon and Safijiiva figures where I game(dont mind the dust I live in the desert)

I like the idea of the light coming from Shiranui and in the official artwork it looks good! But in the game they eat too much of the epic markings and in a plush or figure they’re weird tentacles I can’t make sense of them 😭 And thank you :D

Tendrils and I are no friends, nope. But thanks to @dovesb.bsky.social 's feedback I managed to do something I like enough for this project. Not showing you much because I don't want to show anything 'real' until April obviously!

aww I'm so glad you still have it, poor old Shiranui was like my 4th model, 3rd if we consider the fact that it came from the same T-post I did for Amaterasu just before 🤣

We're working out something for those tendrils, big thanks to Dove below for their feedback. We'll see how it turns out printed

I used to have it a lot in my team in Pokemon Red/Blue :D

I think I'll try make them on the back and small, more like a suggestion they're there and will just support the reflector and its flames (which will go a bit sideways like did here). I don't know... I really don't like them in the game and now I diliske them even more 🤣
