I'm not revealing any state secrets here. This is nothing more than the common sense developed from reading Sun Tzu many times, fencing (where feints are important), playing Avalon Hill games, and watching movies.

First we have to see if anyone is dumb enough to take up Jabba on his offer.

This would likely deplete their supply of weapons, but if they scored even modest success(es) it might well suffice to discourage any further attempts.

The Iranians are already preparing for this. If I were them, I'd let one go through. Then when the other tankers were lining up to go, launch a massive strike against now over-confident targets, in a potentially target-rich environment.

The Navy is well and thoroughly equipped to respond to ballistic missiles (against a *moving* target? you're joking, yah?) and even guided missiles.

But as Ukraine has thoroughly demonstrated, modern warfare is drone warfare. And we (and frankly, no one) have the systems to defend against that.

abba is making noises about the Navy escorting tankers through the straits of Hormuz, and insurance ("insurance", coming from Jabba; excuse me while I laugh myself to death) for any losses. But here's the thing:

Reports currently indicate that all crews made it out OK.

Ukraine has been using such technologies with great success against Russia.

Back when the networks would do a relatively low budget "movie of the week." I remember watching this the first time it aired.

Incredibly Bleak "Friend" AI User Interviews Revive Backlash The wearable AI companion device "Friend" saw a new wave of backlash after posting some rather off-putting user interviews on YouTube.

"This isn't functionally different from any other large language model, other than giving customers a glowing object on which they can form an attachment. It may also serve as a warning sign to anyone who sees them wearing it."

What Do We Mean When We Ask β€œWhat Is Intelligence?” A compact map of a slippery concept with high scientific and moral stakes

"The lesson here is not that the Turing Test was misguided. In many ways, it worked exactly as intended. What recent AI systems have shown is that behavioral success on a single task, even an impressively complex one, is not enough to settle broader questions about intelligence."

This war will be a clusterfuck when we shoot our own drones down then close our own airspace because we shot our selves. And now the Carrot Caligula wants Cuba. At this point can aliens come save us? Or the lizard people? please ?

In Search of the Leisure Class - Liberties If you want a surefire way to incite hostility on social media, I suggest flaunting the fact that you work nights and weekends β€” or complaining about those who do. The sea of humans will suddenly part...

"There must be a human activity that is done for its own sake, and this activity has got to serve as the teleological lynchpin of the whole system. Aristotle calls it β€œleisure,” or scholΔ“."

Black holes and quasars are not the same thing, not by a long stretch. So I am strongly inclined to ignore this source and would suggest others treat it with extreme suspicion.

Blind refugee abandoned by Border Patrol dies in Buffalo. A nearly blind refugee abandoned by Border Patrol miles from his home dies in Buffalo after having been missing for nearly a week.

Our federal government killed a disabled genocide survivor and is covering up for a child rapist. And that is just today’s news. It is just unconscionable to be treating this as normal or acceptable in any way.
