A stellar line-up that would grace any of the top poetry festivals in the country. Except this time it's all free. We'd be delighted if you could join us in London on 22nd Oct...!

Or just list some examples of form in the intro to the comp, but specify that entrants name the form they’ve used when they submit their poems?

I wonder if there’s a link to a freely available resource - thinking of Glyn Maxwell, maybe, who’s keen on it. But there again perhaps you shouldn’t have to teach the entrants what it is…

I also recommend @ailbhedarcy.bsky.social β€˜s beautiful contemporary response to Christensen in her @bloodaxebooks.bsky.social collection Insistence, which considers parenthood in a time of climate crisis. Both are books I return to.

Thank you @poetrysociety.bsky.social ! It’s a wonderful translation by Susanna Nied which really captures the unfurling nature of Christensen’s Fibonacci sequence, from its rooted opening - β€œapricot trees exist; apricot trees exist” 🌿🌿

Fiona Larkin recommends 'alphabet' by Inger Christensen. She says of the book: "Alphabet by Inger Christensen is a rhapsody for the natural world and an urgent call to protect it from human threats. Although those are of its time (the Cold War, and the legacy of the atomic bomb) her message and its urgency ring true even more strongly today."

πŸ“š It's August, which means the #SealeyChallenge is now underway! To help you on your journey to read a book every day this month, The Poetry Society has gotten in touch with poets we've recently worked with for some recommendations. (...)
