Whatever it is, I need to figure it out.
I'm still lucky enough to still make my income as an illustrator, but I do know that posting more would probably work in my favor. 😅 If more people saw my work, there's a better chance of being considered for projects and so forth.

It wasn't always like this. I used to be so excited to share my work online, but something has shifted and I'm trying to figure out what it is.

What's wild is that, for the most part, I really like the work I've made. I've been so excited to share and sell the pieces at conventions, but for some reason posting them online has become a scary chore.

I've actually made quite a bit of art this year, but for some reason, posting on socials has been such an anxiety inducing experience.
Has this been a thing for any of you guys???

Their arguments are so silly to me. I can say as an art history and art museum enjoyer that its pretty obvious that artists have been making fanart since the beginning of time.
*Gestures to the thousands of years worth of Greek Mythology and religious fanart that is packed in every museum*

A poster for the film, Nosferatu. Count Orlok towers over Ellen who is wearing a wedding dress. The scene is shown through a stained glass window.
I feel like I'm screaming into the eatherse at this point, because I still don't know how to gain any traction on here, but I wanted to share my Nosferatu fanart anyway!

This is a digital illustration of OPs reimagining of Beauty and the Beast.
Julie (Beauty) is walking through the woods at night. She is holding a lantern and anxiously looking off to the side, sensing that there might be something near by. Meanwhile further into the woods, in the shadows just barely illuminated by Julie’s lantern, Albert (the Beast), is peeking from behind the bare leafless trees, watching her walk by.
Julie is wearing a black over dress, with a white lacy under dress. Her blonde hair is messy and tied back by matching white kerchief. She is wearing a green decorative shawl around her shoulders and an a mismatched apron.
Albert is wearing nothing except a tattered cloth around his waist for modesty. He is very tall with horns. His eyes glow red in the dark.

Anyone else get nervous when sharing their OCs or is it just me?
I ended up redesigning my old blorbos from college and I'm so happy that I did because I've been feeling so inspired to work on their story now. 🥰

This is a romantic cartoon illustration of Zelda and Link from the game, The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. In this image, Princess Zelda is floating in the air, holding the Master Sword in her right hand; meanwhile, her left hand is combing longingly through Link's hair, as she is floating away from him. Link is standing on a piece of floating sky island which is covered in golden grass and Sundelions. Link's feet are firmly planted on the ground. He is reaching for Zelda, with his good hand, gently holding her right leg over her dress. He is looking up at her wistfully, trying to not let her float away from him. The Light Dragon is also present in this piece flying around the sky island. She is also haloing Princess Zelda's head at the top of the composition, hinting at her eventual transformation into the Light Dragon later on in the game's story.
The overall color palette present throughout the piece is green, turquoise, gold, orange, and white.
Since my old Zelda piece did so well here, figured I'd reshare my Tears of the Kingdom piece! 🥰 🐉

This is a cartoon illustration of Princess Zelda and Link from The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. They are inside of the Temple of Time, which is in ruins and overrun with greenery and Silent Princess flowers. Link is kneeling by Zelda with his hand resting on her dress, while Zelda is lovingly caressing Link's face and stroking his hair. There is a broken down Guardian in the background alongside the castle in the distance. The scene is filled lush greenery and bright blues.
I love starting new socials and resharing all my older pieces. 🥰

It is an oil painting of Edelgard in her pre-timeskip appearance. The application and rendering with paint is heavily influenced by Jan Van Eyck and Rembrandt. However, composition of the painting is reminiscent of the Tudor portraits by Hans Holbein the younger. Edelgard’s complexion has more coloring than she does in 3 Houses proper, her features are rendered in a more “realistic” style. She looks at the viewer with a combination of intensity and determination, to a degree that is almost unnerving. The black parts of Edelgard’s uniform have a subtle brocade pattern. Her collar and aiguillette are created with impasto passages to help create a faux-dimensionality. Edelgard’s right hand is resting on top of her left, both are sitting on a table top. Edelgard’s left hand is gripping the hilt of the dagger she received from Dimitri when they were children. The blade of the dagger is lying across a tablecloth, the folds of the tablecloth suggest the shapes that comprise the crest of flames. To edelgard’s right is a candle stick, smoke can be seen rising from the wick. The candle is sitting atop a finely polished wooden table, in the table’s reflective surface, the candle appears to be burning brightly. The wall behind Edelgard is olive green, the following latin phrase is written on it:
“EDELGARD DE HRÆSVELG. .ETATIS. SUÆ . XVII” on the first line, and
“ANNO . IMPERATORIA . M.C. LXXIX”. The translation is: “EDELGARD VON HRESVELG AT 17 YEARS” on the first line, and “IN THE IMPERIAL YEAR, 1179” on the second. The phrases appear on either side of Edelgard’s head. Small stamps of the Crest of Seiros are also placed on either side of Edelgard’s head
The image is of Ferdinand Von Aegir, heavily inspired by Jim Lee’s Illustration of Superman that was used for “Superman” issue 204 in June 2004. The image is colored and rendered in a style more influenced by Arthur Rackham. Ferdinand is in his post-timeskip appearance from Three Houses, facing the right-hand edge of the image, his left leg is raised and resting on a gargoyle sculpture that resembles the dragon from the Church of Seiros Coat of Arms. His right hand is in a fist, his left is holding a lance. Ferdinand’s long hair is blowing to the right, the strands of it create a subtle superman “S” just to the left of the lance’s blade. Ferdinand’s expression is somber but still optimistic, reflecting his more mature state at the end of Crimson flower. In the background is a city skyline with many of the buildings being based off Rome and Istanbul, suggesting the city is likely Enbarr. It is during the day, likely mid morning.
Much like the Ferdinand piece, this image of post-timeskip Hubert Von Vestra was based on the cover of Batman issue 608, also by Jim Lee. Hubert’s pose is similar to Ferdinand’s, but with Hubert facing the left hand edge of the image instead of the right. His right leg is raised, his foot resting on a stone gargoyle created in the image of the Wind Caller. Hubert’s right hand is resting on his right knee, his left hand is lowered, its fingers flexed as a ball of miasma floats above his palm. The scene is at night on a foggy, overcast evening, the skyline of Enbarr is in the background, composed of buildings from Venice and Rome. Hubert’s facial features are drawn from Vincent Cassel and Lambert Wilson. In contrast to Ferdinand, Hubert is gazing straight ahead with his brow furrowed.
