I had a chance to meet Fred Rogers (I walked to grad school past his apartment every day) and he was every bit as kind and gracious as his public persona, if not more so.
Pittsburgh should just name him the patron saint of the city and let the Vatican deal with the paperwork.

I checked and you are on the "Actually Edible" list. At that point my discretion kicked in and I made no further inquiries.

This is the reason why I am on Bluesky. You're scrolling through your feed and you come across one of the people who you follow repairing their winged lion.
Where else are you going to find that I ask you?

I feel that O'Reilly missed a trick when they didn't require that NASCAR implement a rule that requires a driver to come into the pits and perform some maintenance themselves. It would be randomly chosen each race:
battery change
brake job (one wheel)
transmission oil
find & fix the strange rattle

"[J]ostling for authority among the high end of the chain of command provides much of the film’s dramatic material. And who is to say how anyone would react to such a situation?"
This wassn't that long after the Al Haig incident. We know how some people reacted.

A stop motion Huck would have been awesome, honestly.
Never once in all of the thousands of times that I clicked through a View-Master did I think about the artists who made those models. Thanks for posting!
(And thank you, Joe! You made a lot of kids happy.)

* Volunteer at a local museum
* Teach kids how to create art as a human
* Buy a motorcycle/sports car/airplane and make that cross-country trip you've been talking about since your were 18
* Learn a completely new skill and discover that you're still flexible enough to grow
* Kick ass, take names

And having typed that I realize that in 2026 there are a lot of people who would be furious in that ice cream shop.

This is right on target. I see countless games that look great, but aren't my thing. Getting upset about it is like going into an ice cream shop and being mad that there are dozens of flavors in addition to the one that you wanted.

Oh, my understanding of the bounties was that it was paid if an enemy ship was damaged by the fireship. If there was an actual service reward, irrespective of success, that would change the calculus greatly.
(Adding to my far-too-long list of things to research.)

What I failed to appreciate was the hazard that these vessels represented to themselves. Considering the rather small number of them actually used, they seem to have had a rather high rate of own goals.
I wonder if they were undermanned by less desirable crews. It couldn't have been good duty.

I recall reading a 19th century commentary that called fireships more of a hazard to their own fleet than to the enemy. Unless you had the weather gage and could launch the fireship from your van, it had a good chance of hitting one of your own ships or causing chaos as they maneuvered to avoid it.

I agree completely. It's just frustrating to see saber rattling when actual diplomacy could have accomplished just as much.

I have tried to explain the significance of Playboy interviews to millennials, but they can't believe that very famous mainstream people would have done them and that they would be considered as must-read journalism.

If I am understanding this correctly, this bias should be visible if questions are asked twice with the second question inverted. It doesn't solve the problem, but those surveys could be set aside.
Or I might be completely wrong.

Air War was an all-time fave. I was telling a Vietnam-era pilot about it a couple of weeks ago and he was looking at me like I was insane.
My copy went AWOL decades ago, but I still remember energy management enough to have a conversation with a genuine pro.

That translates to "completely gonzo", which is the highest and most refined form of gaming.

My copy arrived last night and it looks like the Op after a long week in Nightmare Town. The cover is bent, the first dozen pages are misprinted, and some of the interior pages are folded.
Back to Amazon for a second try.
