I’m starting one this semester that is about reading spectra for chemical identification. I’m debating half the class be lecture and half be in class assignments. Since it’s mostly for in major seniors and grad students I want them to prioritize research and/or getting ready for grad school.

I have found some reductions work fine with just sodium or magnesium powder. If you need precise redox tuning you can also add napthalene or anthracene.
