The “spiritual but not religious” group possesses only spiritual belief. In contrast, traditional nonbelievers experience the least sense of meaning in life, as they lack both spiritual faith and strong social ties.

Religious individuals perceive their lives as meaningful because religion provides them with both spiritual faith and a sense of social belonging.

Trust in scientists and their role in society across 68 countries - Nature Human Behaviour What is the state of trust in scientists around the world? To answer this question, the authors surveyed 71,922 respondents in 68 countries and found that trust in scientists is moderately high.

"...most Muslim participants did not perceive a conflict between science and religion, because their holy text, the Quran, proclaims many principles of science. Conversely, some Christians perceive that science disagrees with their religion..."

As religious beliefs increase, the perception of compatibility between religion and science on existential issues rises.

Conversely, as belief in science grows, the perception of conflict between religion and science increases.

The data comes from the UK, the Netherlands, and Kazakhstan.
