1 March 1879: MONSTER HALIBUT There was landed today one of the largest halibuts the fishermen in Cullen ever remember to have caught. It weighed 2 cwt, 1 qr, 11 lb.

27 February 1931: CULLEN SHOT AT WICK Fourteen crans were landed today in Wick from the Breme of Cullen. The herrings were caught in the region of Bulgie Island, and were sold for kippering purposes at 27s per cran. #OnThisDay

25 February 1910: FISHING Hearing of the success that has attended the cod-fishing, some of the local drifters are prosecuting this branch of the industry. More fish have been landed at Cullen Harbour during the past few weeks than there were for the past twelve months. #OnThisDay

24 February 1915: NEWS FROM THE FRONT Today news was received in Cullen that Corporal William Reid, 6th Gordon Highlanders (son of Mr William Reid, railway carter, Cullen) had been killed at the front while crossing a field with others.
