I literally checked the date just to make sure, and then felt silly for forgetting it’s the middle of June, then reread the post and felt completely justified in briefly thinking it was April again.

“Oklahoma City Thunder” still looks and sounds like a basketball team in a movie that couldn’t get the rights to use real NBA teams

What It Means to Tell the Truth About America And what happens when empirical fact is labeled “improper ideology”

In an executive order, Trump targeted the Smithsonian and the National Museum of African American History & Culture suggesting that it is “divisive” and pedaling “improper ideology.”

So, I took a trip back to the museum, and what I saw was a place trying to tell the unvarnished truth about America.

When my coworker asked what I thought about China stealing our AI technology to make their own, I reminded him that all AI is sourced from stolen material so it really doesn’t matter. It’s even funnier to hear OpenAI complain about it.

More than one character felt underdeveloped and the ending felt a bit abrupt as well. I’d still recommend to anyone who likes his other books or who enjoys nature writing. If you haven’t read Overstory yet, just do yourself a favor & start there. Full review: fable.co/review/99311... #BookSky (2/2)

Finished my 2nd #book of the year over the snowy weekend. I quite enjoyed Powers’ new book, Playground. I'm a fan of Powers’ prose in general & would probably enjoy reading anything he writes; however, this is my least favorite of his books I’ve read (Overstory & Bewildered). (1/2) #BookSky #Reading

Most interesting to me is the moon's influence on the development of life. The moon's pull on our tides is commonly understood, but that stirring of our great oceans was likely essential both to the creation of life and the moving from water to land. Full review #FableApp fable.co/review/b96b8...

Finished my first #book of the year; Our Moon is a beautifully written story of our oldest and largest satellite. Boyle describes the moon's role in the development of culture, spirituality, meaning, position, discovery, knowledge, and purpose. #Reading #BookSky

Watching this classic tonight. Anyone have ideas why the second “e” is lower cased?

Moments

Mary Oliver

There are moments that cry out to be fulfilled.
Like, telling someone you love them.
Or giving your money away, all of it.
Your heart is beating, isn't it?
You're not in chains, are you?
There is nothing more pathetic than caution when headlong might savea life. even. possibly. your own.

White masculinity is an identity, and playing up the defense of it — via the state, via norms, via violence — is identity politics.

I think they ought to start naming them after major corporations who contribute significantly to climate change. Hurricane British Petroleum. Hurricane Nestle.

It is absolutely insane to me that Republicans have spent decades denying human caused #ClimateChange, and now all of a sudden think some mysterious “they” can manipulate the weather. Make it make sense. #USpol #Helene #Milton

I’m so excited for you to finally hear this series. We’ll be digging into the climate threat of data centers, the people fighting them, and the harmful ideology behind this whole effort.

Incredible! It may not seem like much, but the starterpack has officially signed up 25 people!

And a TON of existing users have used the pack to connect with others!

(Also I know 25 users isn't the real count, only the ones recorded. I can't say how much more, but it's a lot)

One of the reasons I love this film so much is because it is such a wonderful, creative, and accurate adaptation that so wonderfully captures the spirit of the original
