Great to attend the Annual Philip Monahan Memorial Lecture at UCC today. A pleasure to meet @nicolasturgeon.bsky.social and hear an inspiring talk on leadership, community and the strong Irish connections in Scotland. Important reflections for future generations.

We know this: Ireland’s continued dependence on fossil fuels creates multiple problems for our future.

We also know this: We need to speed up the transition to clean, home-grown renewable energy, for affordability, security, and the climate.

A lot of people attended the Bessborough Virgil in Cork yesterday. We all understand the housing crisis, but building on this site will hurt even more people who have already been deeply affected. I hope to see this planning permission refused at the appeal stage. We will continue to stand together.

I joined Douglas Young at Heart yesterday to celebrate International Women’s Day. Fantastic sense of community spirit and celebration. Great to meet Cllr Mary Rose Desmond, Minister Jerry Buttimer, Seamus McGrath TD, and Cllr Kieran McCarthy. Well done to Ber and your hardworking team.

I was delighted to be out today cleaning with the Mahon Tidy Towns.

I was overwhelmed to attend the rally standing up for workers' rights, organised by Trade Unions in Cork today.

The United States military has no honour.

Now US policy, because actual Western (and Christian) values are too "woke" or "politically correct".

Statement on Rotunda Hospital Remaining in Parnell Square accompanied by an RTÉ headline Government drops plan to move Rotunda to Connolly Hospital

As a board member of the hospital, I welcome the decision by Government to drop the planned relocation of the Rotunda to Connolly hospital. The Rotunda has been at the heart of Dublin City for over 280 years, and is a key part of the inner city's built and social heritage. Women deserve quality healthcare, in a hospital that is up to the highest standards. A new planning application must be submitted as soon as possible for the critical care unit expansion, so that mothers and new born babies can receive the care they deserve in an appropriate, fit for purpose setting.

Great news! As a board member I’m delighted to see this hospital remain a part of our community, where it has been for literal centuries.

The latest NTA report for the Cork Metropolitan Area shows 83% support reducing speed limits to 30km/h in built-up areas.

I put forward a motion in January calling for the most ambitious possible 30km/h speed zones across Cork City.

Safer streets. Safer children. Strong public backing.

59% support School Streets — yet we have zero schemes locally. I’ve begun engaging stakeholders about introducing a School Street at St Luke’s School, Douglas.

Safer school runs. Calmer streets. Healthier communities. The support is there. We need to make it happen.
