Veni award for Nicky Scheefhals: How βMix and Matchβ synapses keep our brains flexible | Radboud University
Supported by a Veni grant, Nicky Scheefhals aims to study a special type of synapse in which components of both excitatory and inhibitory synapses come together: mixed synapses.
π Veni Grant for Nicky Scheefhals to study βmix-and-matchβ synapses in the brain. Using stem cells and the microSCOOP π¬, she can isolate and study these synapses in detail.
This could open new paths for autism and developmental disorder research. Read more π

What an incredible week at the GRC on Excitatory Synapses! Thrilled for the chance to share our work on building an all-human co-culture of excitatory and inhibitory neurons, astrocytes and microglia to better capture synapse biology in health and disease. A huge team effort driving this forward!
