Another exciting week in Ottawa, with the announcement of a national conversation on men and boys’ health, as well as the passing of the Budget Implementation Act. Looking forward to the week ahead in Spadina—Harbourfront!

For more than thirty years, KUUMBA has brought Black music, dance, theatre, spoken word and film to our community. A few weeks ago, I had the chance to attend the opening of KUUMBA 2026 and meet the amazing artists and organizers that make this festival possible.

So many days of recognition are possible because of public servants like the Honorable Jean Augustine that work tirelessly to bring them to life. This year, we celebrated 30 years of Black History Month, marking 30 years since she introduced the motion to recognize February as Black History Month.

This week, our government announced the launch of a national conversation on men and boys’ health. As of March 2, Canadians can provide their input and help shape our national strategy.

Across Spadina—Harbourfront, housing cooperatives are doing incredible work to provide affordable housing. Bill C-227, An Act to Establish a National Housing Strategy for Young Canadians, will help cooperatives like these to continue building affordable homes for young Canadians.

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. To all those in Spadina-Harbourfront and across Canada observing this sacred season of prayer, may this Lent bring you spiritual renewal and reflection.

Right here in Spadina—Harbourfront, Google hosted Kids Help Phone and the Boys and Girls Club of Canada to teach kids from across the GTA about online safety. They also announced 1.4M in funding for resources that help kids learn how to be smart, kind, and brave online.
