KF Centennial Gala in Warsaw, Poland On October 23, 2025, the Kosciuszko Foundation celebrated its Centennial Gala at the historic Palace of the Commonwealth (Pałac Rzeczypospolitej) in Warsaw. Distinguished guests included the Speaker of the Senate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, former Presidents Aleksander Kwaśniewski and Bronisław Komorowski, as well as leaders from academia, culture, and the media. During the ceremony, the Foundation and its leadership received several of Poland’s highest honors: the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, awarded to Chairman of the Board of Trustees Alex Storozynski; the Senate of the Republic of Poland Medal, presented to the Foundation; the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis, awarded by the Ministry of Culture; and the University of Warsaw Medal, recognizing exceptional contributions to the academic community. A centerpiece of the evening was the presentation of a rare manuscript by Nobel laureate Władysław Reymont. As part of the centennial and the Year of Władysław Reymont, President Marek Skulimowski formally transferred Reymont’s “From the Terrible Years 1914–1918. Memoirs” to National Library Director Tomasz Makowski. Preserved for decades in the Foundation’s New York archives, the manuscript documents Reymont’s 1919 visit to the United States and his lectures to Polish-American communities.
