If you get into a “who can cut taxes more” battle with the GOP, you’re going to lose because they are far more shameless and antagonistic to the idea of living in a functioning society.

Don’t concede to their framing that taxes are nothing but a problem to be solved.

Helping all of us will take all of us.

If you see a man picking at his scabs and bleeding and picking at his scabs again and bleeding again you would not come to the conclusion that this man is passionate about picking scabs and/or bleeding.

I push back against the assertion that I am "passionate about housing" because my experience is more like an itch at the base of my brain that I am spending all of my waking hours trying to scratch.

The most generous interpretation is that after construction, by indexing rents to inflation instead of to demand, they create a gap between their prices and prices generally, i.e. generate affordability. Whatever discount exists at day 1 is all subsidy, of course.
