Maybe combine that with The Death of Ivan Ilyich, i also know the plot and importance but i feel like these emotions come together and it’s not that long.

Still reading katabasis, so it stays as the lighter read.

I always hear all quiet on the western front being referenced in films and art and i knew an overview of it but i feel a need to actually read it. the emotional toll, trauma and stagnation might be just relatable a bit as starters to pick an immense war experience like that.
