That’s why artists, including writers, used to have patrons. Rich people need to invest in creators that they like, need to pay them a monthly stipend to just… live and do their thing. We’ve outsourced the rich people’s function to crowdfunding from the masses and it’s way worse.

You've just reminded me that I saw a fantastic Othello at a Shakespeare in the Park years ago, and I cried in public it was *so good*. It was set in modern Cyprus so the military uniforms were all like modern camo, but it worked?? So well??

It is World Book Day. Buy a book from an indie press, leave a review for an author, or social media post to a beloved author and make their day.

Let’s Celebrate Heated Rivalry: Mainstream smut is a net positive in a world ofΒ censorship Read this review on Medium, here. The Canadian hockey smut book series-turned-surprise television series breakout,Β Heated RivalryΒ is a β€œgame changer” in more ways than one. The story follows Canadian pro-hockey rookie Shane Hollander and Russian prodigy Ilya Rozanov through years of high-tension professional rivalry alongside their illicit sexual relationship. The sex is on-screen from Episode 1. People have called it β€œgratuitous” and β€œborderline pornography,” but it is an essential part of the plot, too, at once steamy and emotionally-driven.

By a thin margin we have locked in the first Stretch Goal of the "Tea or Coffee, Stars, and Gravity" KS campaign and can now add 4 to 6 more authors to the budget. Info - www.kickstarter.com/projects/526...

Disabled characters have ALWAYS been a part of Star Trek.
I can think of examples from TOS, TNG, 2009, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, BNW, Disco, LD. Why would Academy be different?

Worth noting that this deal has led to the explicit banning of erotica on D2D, so self-publishing smut has gained a new roadblock.

Unfortunately they are blocking all erotica from distribution. Very sad to see a champion for indie bookstores take such a restrictive stance on fiction.
