International students are an underutilized source of startup talent in Canada, but immigration pathways aren’t delivering. A new IRPP policy brief by Nelson Graham & @ypsherm.bsky.social calls for redesigning pathways to better match early-stage entrepreneurship.

The last mile: Provincial child care expansion at the five-year deadline - CCPA Child care has become more accessible over the past five years but finding affordable spaces is still a frustrating experience for many parents

New from @policyalternatives.ca: Days before Canada’s ministers meet to talk about child care, a new report reveals that provinces are significantly off-track in meeting their promises for new non-profit child care spaces. www.policyalternatives.ca/news-researc...

There is no way in hell the United States under the Trump regime can host the World Cup in a few months.

They are murdering citizens in broad daylight, threatening war against NATO, and lawlessly kidnapping children and foreign heads of state.

The world has to organize a boycott. It’s not safe.

The Washington Post published a clear video of federal agents removing Alex Pretti's handgun moments before he was fatally shot. There's nothing in the video to suggest Pretti even reached for his weapon.

Yes! My 3 year old strings multiple yesterdays together to explain things that happened before yesterday. The more yesterdays, the longer ago something happened.

Every answer to maintain quality in university education in an age of Gen AI involves smaller classes, more human TAs, and deeper connections between professors and students. The constant budget crisis and reduced resources suggest that there is no clear plan or vision from the leaders or funders.

AMANDA BITTNER: The math doesn’t add up on NL's education system Current education funding is failing NL kids from kindergarten right up to Memorial University students, says MUN political scientist

Are you worried about the future of the state of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador? I am. Education is everything and it's not being taken seriously at all.

Some folks at MUN have started a petition to raise the issue of chronic de-funding of education with the government. Sign it!

Immigration Saved Hundreds of U.S. Counties From Population Loss Over 450 U.S. counties would have lost population between 2023 and 2024 without immigration, according to an analysis of new data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Lots of Red counties would have lost population but for immigration.

I’m in Toronto this week for the 27th Metropolis Canada Conference: "Resetting Canada’s Immigration Plan & Program for a New Era." Looking forward to participating in 2 workshops on: how frontline organizations are responding to anti-immigrant attitudes; and the immigrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Big news for child care in Canada! Today, Prime Minister Trudeau announced the federal government is extending Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) funding agreements until 2031, and will investing more to build a nationwide system of early learning and child care. buff.ly/pBjWBCq

Extending CWELCC for 5 more years (with base funding increases) means more families will benefit. I know I am lucky that my son is benefitting from this program and many of my friends who can't get a $10aDay space fear the agreement will be scrapped by Pierre P before they can access it.
