On the flip side, because of the density of the yellow packaging I was able to make very thin, precise pieces that wouldn’t shred the same way trying to cut those out of the brown cardboard would.

19.01.2026 16:37 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0What set the Corvo mask apart was how I used the different types of cardboard I had access to. The brown and red sandwich boxes were thicker and had a corrugated structure, while the yellow breakfast packaging was more like a coated card stock. I <tore> most of the brown cardboard for the mask.

Jen: "Can you make the mask life size?"
Me: "You want to wear it, don't you?"
Part of the 2017 Moxie "About" reel included Jen putting the mask on.

Finished shot of the mask immediately after I finished crafting it from straight on.
Close-up shot of the yellow cardboard showing how I could add very minute details by pressing into the cardboard - the small circles were made by taking a pen apart.

The other three pieces were identical and listed the details for our wedding website, Atlanta reception, and wedding registry.
We also won a @howbrand Award for them.
The white shirt (the first fold-out section) had two different versions; one for the small group of people we invited to attend our wedding ceremony in Davenport, IA; and a second for everyone we invited to our wedding reception (i.e., excuse to party) a month later in Atlanta.
14.01.2026 14:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I bought Jonathan's template on Behance and redesigned it to serve as an invitation. One of my goals was to make them without glue; and I almost did it. The only pieces that needed glue were the bow ties; everything else was held together by tabs and slits I'd engineered into the die line.
14.01.2026 14:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0We talked about what we wanted, and I had the idea to make them a die-cut project inspired by a papercraft piece I'd seen on Pinterest by Jonathan Shackleton. My husband took a huge leap of faith and let me make the invitations, knowing full well that I would either go crazy or make them EPIC.
14.01.2026 14:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Don't get me wrong: I like rainbows, I LOVE them during Pride...but wedding invitations that look like Lisa Frank designed them just weren't what my husband and I had in mind.
14.01.2026 14:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Back in 2013 when I proposed to my husband, the only wedding invitations you could find for two men were... a bit much. WHY did everyone think that just because you were a gay couple getting married, you would automatically want rainbows on EVERYTHING?

All four hand-cut pieces laid out
130 cut paper bow ties made of blue gingham plaid paper and orange card stock
My favorite of our wedding photos (and still my phone's lock screen image almost 12 years later)
The one that started it all... Our wedding invitations are the reason I got the job at ROAR Groupe to work on @arbys social. I hand-cut, folded, and assembled more than 130 of them from March to May 2014, making 3 or 4 every night (and went through a LOT of X-Acto blades).

The finished egg featuring Casita from "Encanto" made entirely of cut paper with a bit of colored flock to make the trees and flowers stand out. Casita sits on top of the egg which has been wrapped in strips of light teal, teal and blue paper to mirror Mirabel's dress. Additional details on the dress are butterflies, flowers and leaves.
An early photo of the walls of Casita from a ¾ angle before any of the roofs or floors were put on.
Tiny corrugated cardboard made perfect tile roofs.
The finished Casita sitting next to the to-be-covered egg in front of an Elmer's Glue Stick and standard-sized bottle of Elmer's School Glue. Each year's art piece starts with a wooden egg that is 2-½ inches tall, which meant Casita was less than 1-½ inches tall.
This year's egg for today's @bombshellsatl.bsky.social hunt! All hand-cut paper and themed using Disney's "Encanto." Casita sits on top of an egg made to look like Mirabel's dress.
