Indeed. But it also reminds me that as a whole (across all 10 or even just the first 6) there’s a *lot* of cross-crossing of The Land on foot or horseback. Can be repetitive.

I’m sure SRD has met with hundreds of studio folks over the years who’ve promised they’ll adapt the series but 🤷🏻‍♂️. I enjoy Foundation on Apple+ and that series was definitely considered unadaptable for 70+ years so maybe Apple+ is the one place that could pull off Covenant?

Children of migrants already do so much farm labor which doesn’t seem to trouble them in the least.

Just to clarify, I’m not suggesting it’s not worthwhile to consider adapting Covenant — I just know that that element happens so early in the series that it can turn many readers/potential viewers off almost immediately.

I’m not sure his self-hatred counts as atonement per se but I think you raise an interesting idea which is that so much of the Covenant series is in his or Linden Avery’s head (not as figments but their internal self regard).

I appreciate Covenant but the opening scenes of a sexual assault are problematic for sure.
