It is the only clear proposal i’ve ever seen for how we could get all the way through and past this mess. I wish more people talked about it!

(tbh i think it would make for a great prestige tv show. georgetown squaring off against anacostia!)

One would think that this would merit an emergency convening of all Blue state governors, Attorneys generals and Congressional representatives. It's a declaration of war on one state which means they'll do it to others too.

I am prepared to accept the possibility that there is no documentation for the governance model of the Scumdogs of the Universe in existence on the internet

Americans deserve affordable home insurance Fed up with skyrocketing home insurance rates? Demand home insurance companies adopt basic protections for all policyholders. Take action by signing Consumer Reports’ petition today.

Great to see this 'bill of rights' for property insurance policyholders from @consumerreports.org – not sure what the path to wins would be here at this point but any one would begin with articulating where we want to go. This is a good start.Β Sign on! action.consumerreports.org/nb-20251003-...

Not just political establishment but healthcare, civic tech, and the nonprofit industrial complex more broadly. This new reality has major strategic ramifications for any organization working on something like "health equity" or "civil society" but ... nobody wants to talk about it.

The docs on WHAM and Milli Vanilli are both actually great – novelistic stories.

I also really enjoyed Roberta, and Still Bill;Β didn't see them mentioned here, and they're really worth checking out :)

Ever thought about what it takes for Safari, Chrome, and Firefox to display more or less the same web?

I’ve been procrastinating so hard on posting the preview of my values-as-boundaries paper… just seems like not super timely for it, given *everything going on*? But will that ever change?

But there are always countercultures, and swings back. People will rediscover the wealth of networks. I believe that anyway. And, maybe having learned the hard way, more people will be more willing to treat the work of collective decisionmaking as worthy of their care. Idk @lu.is is that naive

27.07.2025 14:16 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Maybe @lu.is is right that software development culture has shifted away from co-production?

I think this reflects the failure of cybertriumphalism, which understood digital commons in the Hardin sense: no rules, no structure. No politics. But this turns tragic even when resource is not exhaustible
