If I had a nickel for every time I watched a super robot anime where the heroes end up fighting a giant monster at the planet Jupiter, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

The question I want this to try to answer is "Can you tell an Evangelion story with completely different everything?" in the vein of Gundam's variety projects to choose the easy example.

Don't think I know enough to comment on that at this point but minimal looking into the matter seems to be they always were doing multi-part game so...maybe?

If it was one game, sure HD remaster away. But 4 with an assumption you'll do all of them once the first comes out might not be an inviting proposition to the finance people without proof of return on investment.

I feel like new game may be the best way towards that? Original games were already kind of niche from their era, which was 20 years ago with not much support for the IP in the between years. Make a new game, prove there's demand or build interest, then use that money to remaster seems a safer sell

I glanced over this too quickly and thought this was like the "all horses are born on January 1st" thing and was really invested in "the legal birthday of all scorpions is Valentines Day" mythos.

I didn't actually know the mobile or spin off show were things. And yeah, Rebellion kind of works as a send off and letting everyone get that last bit of closure UNTIL the big twist happens.

I feel like I have a memory of showing a friend the movie and cutting it off there but it's been too long.

Then again I also miss the days where selling 3 million copies was enough to be considered a success. I guess I just wish games and studios could live long enough to find their niche audiences.

I heard some people saying Highguard was pretty fun after an emergency patch changing matches from 3v3 to 5v5 after feedback that basically asked for exactly that. I'm not saying I WANT more live service games out there but firing the team is basically saying "don't bother" to any audience.

Seeing that both Highguard and 2XKO (the League of Legends fighting game) in under a month fired over half their teams post release. I wasn't personally interested in them but for what's supposed to be long term games that kind of feels like not even trying to make them work.

Aww. Game store has a new employee who might not be entirely up on protocol cause draft night got cut short before round 3. Usual policy has been front door and register are closed at 9 but the person running sticks around to 9:30ish so the players can finish. Guessing he wasn't briefed on that.

He is a very nice and chill dude. He was our DM. Runs his own business, has a baby now.

Turning on my local TV box for the first time in years because damn it, I AM going to watch the Muppet Show tonight.

If you make the demon's more nuanced you now need to interrogate the morality of the conflict and realistically you also need to work towards a resolution to that conflict which should not be handled lightly. At that point you are telling a different story.

I'm sure it could be called lazy world building but also I think it just adds too much baggage to the story the author wants to tell. Ultimately the story wants to be focused on Frieren's relationships.
