I’ll start:

part of me feels like I'd prefer seeing those concepts on a (pseudo)legendary (which actually happened in the form of cosmog -> solgaleo) but no I get your point, I've seen a lot of good concepts for bug starters but something tells me tpc is self-aware at how hard that'd be to market lol

-while the first stages are gonna be humble and plain comparatively to show "this is only the most basic form". I'm hoping the evos do him justice cause sobble -> inteleon was a hell of a downgrade imo meanwhile I HATED sprigatito and ended up liking its final evo the best of the paldea starters

its design gives leopard gecko to me with the shape of its head (ESPECIALLY its eyes) and fat tail while treecko and its evos read as a tree gecko with their coloration, head shapes and arboreal motifs. as for what they do with the design the final evos tend to go a bit more bonkers with designs-

even a very generic lizard-ey design in charmander isn't even truly a lizard in its origins since it's based on fire salamander myths and salamanders are amphibians (and therefore more closely related to frogs)

ehh to be completely fair lizards are an incredibly diverse archetype of animal and there are thousands of different species, there's a difference between a basilisk and a gecko much like how treecko (another gecko) loses its gecko-ey traits when it evolves into sceptile

wait who's the third gecko starter? if you mean sobble he's supposed to be a chameleon/basilisk lizard

then again I'm a sucker for bobbleheaded gecko designs and pomeranians in general so I feel like I was gonna enjoy them on that merit alone lol

can't say I'm a fan of the bird but after I found it hard to really get attached to any of the gen 8 or 9 starters I gotta say the other 2 actually really scratch the itch for me but you're definitely not alone in the sentiment cause I've seen a few other people say the same thing
