and ask if there's an estimate. I personally understand that artists have a life and for most, drawing isn't their main income and even if it is, sometimes they need time to draw for themselves and not for others. It's just dependent on the commissioner's expectations and communication.

over and over again and yet the artist shows no progress at all, I'll get more impatient. I have a few commissions open right now where I see the artists doing other things, posting stuff without seeing any progress on my pieces and it's very frustrating, but I never pressure them, I just check in-

It really depends for me how long I'm willing to wait, mostly on the communication. If I get shown progress, if I get an estimated time frame and if that time frame can't be reached, the artist contacts me instead of me having to chase, then I'm willing to wait longer. If I have to follow up-
