So much for supply side economics.

If Republicans thought they could gain advantage by nuking the filibuster, they'd have already done it. I don't think they hold back if we don't provoke them.

And Republicans absolutely do not. That says something.

I did say it sucked repeatedly, and I'm not interested in discussing me. I'm not relevant.

It would be a very big deal if Republicans nuked the filibuster. They'd romp for the next year, but when they are thrown out because of too much getting their way, Democrats on the next trifecta admit PR and DC. This is explicitly why Republicans refuse to do it.

I'm genuinely sorry if I came off as flippant. It was not my intent. Using the same strategy as framed allied thinking in WWII did not strike me as treating the issue lightly.

But it was the spike in food prices that even got it to that point.

The noise machine apparently not working on the shutdown is exactly why dems needed to press the advantage.

Those health care premium hikes even got MTG out of pocket.

They sure held inflation and the Afghanistan withdrawal against Biden for multiple years.

This is slightly off topic because this isn't where the US is, but bread riots don't turn into revolutions? Isn't that what Tahrir was?

I haven't happily opined about politics in a solid year. I'm sorry you're going through it.

I don't think we have a savior, just a squandered advantage.

I can tell you I'm affected by the shutdown. I can also tell you there's much worse coming. If that's not enough to buy me license to post on the issue, we can leave it here.

It's not my behalf. It's to defeat fascism. If people aren't interested in that, I can't make them.

Volunteering other people? Building a popular front? What sort of power do you think I have?

What on earth gave you the impression I was interested in a dick measuring contest? I'm having a discussion on public affairs.

For a variety of reasons, I'm not going into personally identifying details in a public forum.

You'll have to be content with discussing ideas instead of me.

As I said, the Republicans choose. Unless Democrats let them off the hook.

So what, we don't fight the fash because we're not all equally impacted by the fight?

Republicans cave on heath care or abolish the filibuster. Otherwise, they keep owning the shutdown. They get to decide how they lose, but they lose.

It sucks, but as we once learned about fighting fash, you end the atrocities by winning the war.

They learned the public will blame Republicans for a shutdown. That certainly surprised me. The epistemic distortion field started working against the GOP for a change.

And Dems responded by folding a winning hand.

11.11.2025 01:43 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

And they'll what, learn something?

11.11.2025 01:30 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

How can the shutdown be Republicans fault when Democrats are ending it?

Try it again in January and it's "stop wasting everyone's time and just cave for nothing now"

11.11.2025 01:24 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Democrats just saved them from their super unpopular shutdown, which undermines the whole message pinning the shutdown on Republicans in the first place. Will this trick work again in January? With what credibility?

Absolutely criminal stupidity in letting our opponent of the mat like this.

Unless Democrats and Justices save them from their worst impulses.

And will until at least 2027. The republic's best hope is a generational GOP thrashing in the midterms. If they want to use whips and chains on their own base...🤷‍♂️

11.11.2025 00:50 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

If Republicans want to take the blame for the unceasing pain from now until then, let them. Beats authoritarian consolidation.

Which was going over like a lead balloon.
