It would be a very big deal if Republicans nuked the filibuster. They'd romp for the next year, but when they are thrown out because of too much getting their way, Democrats on the next trifecta admit PR and DC. This is explicitly why Republicans refuse to do it.

I'm genuinely sorry if I came off as flippant. It was not my intent. Using the same strategy as framed allied thinking in WWII did not strike me as treating the issue lightly.

The noise machine apparently not working on the shutdown is exactly why dems needed to press the advantage.

I can tell you I'm affected by the shutdown. I can also tell you there's much worse coming. If that's not enough to buy me license to post on the issue, we can leave it here.

Republicans cave on heath care or abolish the filibuster. Otherwise, they keep owning the shutdown. They get to decide how they lose, but they lose.

It sucks, but as we once learned about fighting fash, you end the atrocities by winning the war.

They learned the public will blame Republicans for a shutdown. That certainly surprised me. The epistemic distortion field started working against the GOP for a change.

Democrats just saved them from their super unpopular shutdown, which undermines the whole message pinning the shutdown on Republicans in the first place. Will this trick work again in January? With what credibility?
