That was Steve at CC who supplied you lot. Later worked in Sales at THE IIRC as I saw him when I went there to demo some Saturn titles. Again memory hazy a bit.

Why Stoke was a hotbed of importers for "the Big Engine" continues to boggle me? Fun fact - the guy who ran that firm is seen on the dance floor raving on my sisters wedding receptipm video. Wearing one glove IIRC as a Wacko Jacko homage perhaps. Neither my Sister or her Husband knew him.

The RETURN Of Burnout? Wreckreation!
YouTube video by BlackPanthaa The RETURN Of Burnout? Wreckreation!

Look, it's not like they're paying me extra for this, but if you buy one game this week, or ever again, make it Wreckreation.

Here's BlackPanthaa loving it, and we all know he's not an easy man to please.

Pang. A gem. Used to drive from Plymouth into Cornwall to an arcade where the Owner would open up just for us to play Pang. Maybe Rastan Saga as well.

I went to the Opticians last week. Halfway through my eye test I asked her what her favourite game was. I was shocked to hear "Bubble Bobble. On the 64."

OK did the review disk version play the music from "Ghostbusters"? Because my version never did. And yes this HAS bugged me for forty years....!

I can remember seeing and playing these games for the first time as if it were yesterday. The first time I saw Roadblasters the cabinet was right next to Forgotten Worlds. Many pound coins were deposited. AND I once met someone who claimed the T Shirt from Atari.

Wow! Those were truly iconic screenshots. I drooled over them. Look at Super Hang On and Roadblasters. A friend of mine went to the Welsh coast a few months later. He wrote up his own ADATA feature and posted five sides of A4 through my letterbox. Halcyon days!

I think this was the first open world game I ever played.

The opening lines of your comment have stayed with me for years. "Nothing, absolutely nothing..." - reading that sold me on the SFC immediately! The concept was fresh and exciting. Yet another Classic I have never finished...

I do find it sad that a game like this would never be made today. Because a lot of gaming revolves around 3D shooting and/ storytelling. Personally I have never played a game for its Story. And "playing for a high score" is seemingly something from yesteryear.

For those of us of a certain age games like Irem's 1987 coin-op R-Type were just really influential. 38yrs later and I am still drawn to this game. Seeing it running on the PC Engine was really mind blowing. At the time we all dreamed of having games like OutRun or Space Harrier at home.

You have got to be kidding me! Have to say would be well up for a modern version as well.

Dear me did they get the US NEC TurboGrafx marketing team in to sort out that key art?

Ok hands up if you actually completed it? (Other than Julian) Have to say never even got close. Another for the Bucket List then..

For some reason I am playing Doom. On 32X. Which I never had. Remember playing the fine 32X Virtua Racing back at Acclaim London HQ with Chris Hadley. Hmm that will be THIRTY years ago this month then...

This Magazine got me through my University years. I would await each issue then eagerly pore over each page and ad. I would dream about the games in lectures. Playing them in my head. UN Squadron Sim City abd Pilotwings. Had YEARS of play from them.

IIRC this was written by Mark Fisher who went on to be the Tech Director at Fergus McGoverns Probe Entertainment in Croydon. I had this game and had many hours with it and the follow up.

A whole chart where I would not have played any of them. C64 Paperboy....oh boy..mind you we were hyped by seeing the coin op.on that BBC schoolkid quiz show...where they also did the swimming level from Hyper Sports.

Barnstorming River Raid Superman HERO Combat Pitfall Asteroids. All played by me this year via Retroarch and a tasty shader doing a nice NTSC Composite Video look.
