Defending The Truth About Jan 6th We must be relentless and never ceasing to fight the lies

Jan 6th was a violent attack on our country, not a “day of love.” The truth is well documented, witnessed by dozens of GOP officials, it’s up to us to defend it against the relentless lies. My latest:

Not at all.

I’m an IT guy and a science geek. I understand AI, quantum theory, etc.

But my biggest concern is that the people building our new world do not grasp nor fully appreciate the ethical concerns with what they’re building. History and ethics must inform technology.

When we lose empathy and human dignity, dehumanizing behavior begins to happen. And that always, always ends in tragedy.

However, I appreciate (again, broadly speaking) that the left generally starts with a basic foundation of trust and and empathy and human dignity — sometimes even in its overreach. But at least from that basis, dialogue can happen.

However, the left is also uncomfortable, for different reasons. The “to each his own” moral laxity is not sustainable to a well functioning society.

And while I’ve been on the right most of my life, I’ve grown increasingly and incredibly uncomfortable as the right has become angry and uncivilized and willing to jettison their convictions in favor of power and control.

I’m speaking in broad strokes, of course. But there are cultural undercurrents that determine the general posture of the right and the left.

Instead, there is a persistent defensiveness and a perpetual distrust. The guard is always up. I see so much more “protect what’s mine” than “what would make things better for all of us?”

The right is always spoiling for a fight. I’m not sure they even understand how deeply ingrained it is: militaristic language, culture wars, spiritual battles, gun rights, “don’t tread on me”, etc. There is little cultural exhortation to understand or emphathize.

Over on X, there’s debate about whether people will return to X or MAGA will try to infiltrate here.

The second seems far more likely, and here’s why:

I just dipped into Twitter for a bit. I’m literally dizzy. It’s stunning how the few threads of sanity there are nearly gone.

While I appreciate the fresh air and bluesky, I worry about *that* echo chamber — how do we possibly help this nation de-radicalize?

Somewhat unintentionally. But it changes the relationship.

Hold onto hope. Keep your chin up. Do what is right. Throw off fear and anger and hate. Love always. Point to Jesus.

Jesus is still in there, but pretty hard to see sometimes. I suspect we have some challenging days ahead. But I’m choosing to take a deep breath, because…

Hey, I’m Clay Anderson.

I’m a husband, father of four, IT guy by day, and children’s author by night. Great to meet you.

I’m also a Christian. And I’ve spent the last 8 years lamenting the political idolatry that has taken over the American church, to the detriment of the Gospel.
