This scare-mongering petition implies that this shut-down is imminent (a decision “within months”), but the earliest potential shut-down date under consideration is <checks notes> 2034, something which the accompanying statement carefully omits to mention.

My 6yo granddaughter got to dress up as a unicorn (“A Believer’s Guide to Unicorns”) and my 5yo grandson as a volcano (“Into the Volcano: The Science, Magic and Meaning of Volcanoes”). They’re both absolutely thrilled about it, and eager to share their favourite books with their classmates.

The BBC is reporting that this hoard has been sold at auction for £33k, to an anonymous US collector.

So, these historically significant coins, which should be in a museum in the UK, are now lost to the nation forever.

A sad outcome that reflects poorly on all concerned.
