Historian here history first time as tragedy the second time as farce.

Call me Mr Bastard, but might I suggest a prison sentence would be more of a deterrent than a fine the consumers will end up paying?

I caught a trailer for this a day or so ago and that literally starts with Armstrong saying "India is a land of contrasts", and truly it is time to nuke the "middle-aged-white-man-makes-cliche-laden-travelogue" format.

We’ve probably all attended leaving do’s where the departee is praised to the skies while people inwardly breathe a sigh of relief that they’ll be shot of the useless b*stard at last, but even so this is a bit of a stretch.

A lot of people say AI isn't very good for the world and its outputs are routinely unreliable, but these haters fail to see how it's revolutionizing how we incinerate schoolchildren.

This scare-mongering petition implies that this shut-down is imminent (a decision β€œwithin months”), but the earliest potential shut-down date under consideration is <checks notes> 2034, something which the accompanying statement carefully omits to mention.

Yawn.

My 6yo granddaughter got to dress up as a unicorn (β€œA Believer’s Guide to Unicorns”) and my 5yo grandson as a volcano (β€œInto the Volcano: The Science, Magic and Meaning of Volcanoes”). They’re both absolutely thrilled about it, and eager to share their favourite books with their classmates.

The BBC is reporting that this hoard has been sold at auction for Β£33k, to an anonymous US collector.

So, these historically significant coins, which should be in a museum in the UK, are now lost to the nation forever.

A sad outcome that reflects poorly on all concerned.

Landscape ecological restoration. It can be done but we need to get a move on. This is Carrifran where the sheep were removed to allow this native woodland to take over.
