One thing that doing creative work teaches you is that ideas are worth nothing. Anybody can have an idea. In a writers room you have to come up with a hundred ideas a day, and most of those don’t make the page. It’s the work of making something that gives it value. The patina of humanity.

Each EP consists of several improvisations using the same set of sound sources (different types of synths & a bit of vocals). The set of sound sources change with each Volume but the live-looping rig, consisting of 2 hardware loopers (Soma Cosmos & Glou-glou Loupé), remains the same.

This one is an exception in Kolyder’s discography since it’s pure studio work: Tracks are shorter, more fleshed out. It might be the easiest entry point to Kolyder’s music.

As Trent Reznor was singing the last lines “If I could start again, A million miles away, I would keep myself, I would find a way", I couldn't help but think he might have actually find a way and that he just shared it with us for 2 hours...

As always, the band ended the performance with “Hurt”, the last track on The Downward Spiral, the seemingly last chapter of the story of this wretched man when he finally realized what he had become.

This “Peel It Back” tour, thanks to the 2-stages arrangement & band personas seems to give us the key to how we can find our humanity back & become whole again: peel the layers back to the core & make peace with whatever you find: the old, the new, the hate & love, the feminine & masculine traits…
